E-myth, franchsing, systems, processes. E-myth, franchsing, systems, processes.

I recently read the E-myth revisited by Michael Gerber. Great book, no fluff, good for small business owners and really anyone interested in business.

The main point of the book, is that if you're an entrepreneur you need to work on your business and not in your business. So many small businesses in America rely on the owner. If the owner dies, the business dies.

The book mentions the genius of Ray Kroc. He walked into McDonald's in 1954 (the only location at the time) selling a multi mixer milkshake machine. He didn't taste the most amazing hamburger of all time. He didn't taste the best french fries. What he saw, was a system. A moneymaking machine. More importantly, he saw a system that he thought could be replicated thousands of times over.

The book also mentions Disney, and if you're familiar with Disney university, they make it abundantly clear to new hires that you are happy for 8 hours a day...or else. Everything works like clockwork at Disney, everything has a system in place. A kid drops a bag of 7 dollar popcorn and a cast member shows up with a free bag in 30 seconds.

Anyways, the point of this thread is to find out of anyone on this board has ever implemented an effective process or system in your business (owner or employee). Tell us why and how.

If you've ever franchised your business, I want to know how you did it. What systems and processes allowed you to replicate a profitable business.
