Overlap those two opposites, et voilá, you have a quadrant.
Add in industrious mouse and lazy mouse and you get a cube.

Wasn't that something to do with "literature" about moving cheese? Does sound vaguely familiar, though. Maybe I got that mixed up.

Kiyosaki's definition of wealth. Take two people, one with 100k cash and 10k / month in expenses. The other w/ 50k cash and 1k / month in expenses. Who is wealthier?

Kiyosaki says the 2nd guy. It is basically the difference between the relative and absolute.

He praises passive income. This book is one of the main reasons that I have pretty much quit playing poker professionally. I don't want to have to go to the casino to pay my expenses. I would much rather build a business and be an investor.

Really, freedom is what I am after more so than capital. It just so happens that in our (capitalistic) society money basically buys freedom.
I like this post. What other books can you recommend?

I know you didn't ask me but...

The Four Hour Work Week

This book gets similar criticisms as Kiyosaki's but it is actually very good.

The Four Hour Work Week is really good. Tim Ferris is legit.

The following are three of my favorite books on BFI type topics:

1. COMPLEXITY: The Emerging Science at the Edge of Order and Chaos
http://www.amazon.com/COMPLEXITY-EME...26BMZ7R6BNCQWT

This book helped realize that most of what I was taught at school (top 10 or so US institution) in finance (and econ) was akin to Newtonian physics (and therefore pretty much wrong), but that today most of what happens is much more like quantum mechanics.

2. Structure and Change in Economic History
http://www.amazon.com/Structure-Chan...GA96748FWG9VAH

IMO Doug North is the man. I had him my senior year and this book is the nuts when it comes to economics.

3. The Creature from Jekyll Island: A Second Look at the Federal Reserve

http://www.amazon.com/Creature-Jekyl...WMZH6V9WME1CGB

I really like this book. History is so cool and Griffin is an excellent researcher.

...I won't bother with the links and descriptions but Taleb is awesome. Fooled by Randomness and Antifragile are probably must reads. Here is a report he did for the CFR that is truly illuminating: http://fooledbyrandomness.com/ForeignAffairs.pdf

I am glad that I read Soros (very insightful) and Buffet and Graham and Gann. That is about all I've got off the top of my head.

I also just finished this biography on Elon Musk that I really liked: Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future. http://www.amazon.com/Elon-Musk-Spac...0VZNQRZCKCJ8PJ

If you ask me, Audible is your friend: http://www.audible.com/

Came back because I also thought of Gladwell and Lewis. As for Lewis, Liars Poker is a classic and I really liked his book on LTCM. His earlier stuff was better IMO.

Edit: Also just remembered Dan Areily and Robert Shiller. Shiller is about as good as it gets.
