The results are great and inspiring but I am more interested in process and procedure. I love trading and talking about trading. The thing I miss most about trading at home instead of an office full of like mined traders is the discussion. We almost never do that on this forum however as it gets more into total results orientation.

My main mental roadblock with stock option scalping is execution. How to deal with the spread. Hit bids/offers or work something and risk a miss? How to take profits without being too early. In futures I just use a trailing stop based on a channel and let it run as far as it will go until it turns back over. This is much more difficult with an option and that troublesome spread question comes back into play.

But I think most of us are enjoying your excellent contribution to BFI and I am sure you have learned by now to just ignore certain posters

I think toothsayer and mrbaseball are both right. The Tooth is certainly right that OP would disappear if things went South & mrbaseball is right that there should be more process and procedure. A fair compromise here is that OP gets a title change after there is real time process & procedure posts.

lol take a guess.

I just don't get the weird obsession with closing out a position at the end of the day either. It such obvious nonsense if you think you believe you are gaining some information from CNBC over night that you can exploit but that information is going to decay intraday so you better close out the position before the bell. Then every day the same thing happens like clock work, profit.
Yea right.

There are reasons to not hold positions overnight. You have much less exposure to news on coming out, on a stock specific level and a macro level making your strategies less market correlated. So it should reduce variance in some aspects. It also makes position and bet sizing much simpler. You can increase or decrease your sizing every single day, while a strategy that holds positions for months can't really adjust exposure mid trade.

That said OP probably got beat down

OP got run out by our resident troll. Why bother posting results here? Makes no sense. Sadly we lose a potentially great addition to BFI in the process. But we get to keep the troll.

If he was just a fish on a heater, what makes him a "great" addition to BFI?

If he was winning he'd be posting. No one has EVER been discouraged posting results in their brag thread, until they hit the downswing and wipe themselves out.

The thread is also complete bull****, since OP posted for the first time when he'd hit an almost 10 bagger ($8000 -> $71,000 claimed in OP). Can you say selection bias? If he's bothered by me pointing that out, and that his real results started from $71,000 (and before is meaningless), he's too stupid to have any edge worth discussing.

There are things to be learned from fish on heaters. He is a self described "action junkie" but he has also seems to have been at it off and on for 5 years. It could be all BS but my BS detector tells me he is real and is doing a lot of things correctly (pre trade delta preparation, trading journals etc.) which are important lessons. But if all he gets for his effort posting here is trollish resistance than why bother?

There was little to no value in continuing to post. It was no longer fun, and instead just caused me consternation. Why continue with such an endeavor? That's why my last post was of a send off nature.

Yes, when something is posted to the internet, it is expected that negative comments will out number the positive, but TS' continous negativity towards posters is on another leveI. I get the impression he has never been wrong in his entire life. If only I could be so perfect. So yes, I took my toys and went crying home to mommy.

However, for what it's worth, August was +$23,500 with significantly more positive days than negative (much like the previous months). So could it be that TS' capitalized comment above about "EVER" actually be wrong? (actually maybe not, because here I am posting). But I can substantiate it with brokerage trade confirmations, should it become worth my while.

As far as closing out at the end of the day, anyone who questions that decision has never held multiple thousands in expiring weekly options.

And a challenge to TS (toothsayer). You've been in the market for years, tout your knowledge and must be successful enough to have some spare cash to throw around. I'll escrow $23.5k (my August profit) against your $23.5k ($47k to the winner) that I can close out intraday options with a positive number for 7 days within a 2 month period, without a negative day in between.

In other words, I must open and close only options (put or calls) intraday and at then end of the day finish with a positive number of at least a penny (after commission, decay, spread and everything). I can make as many or as few trades as I want in that day, but I must finish positive 7 trading days in a row within a 2 month period in order to win (I don't have to trade 7 consecutive days, but the 7 days must occur within a 2 month time frame). I'm sure you're smart enough to figure out how much the odds are in your favor. One single negative day and you win. The $23.5k each has to be physically held by or deposited in an acceptable escrow for the challenge to start. If I win (and I'm sure that's a big if), I'll donate $2,350 towards dog rescue efforts in an area impacted by the hurricanes (also to be verified by an agreeable escrow).

You in? The logistics of trade verification should be easy (hell maybe I could figure out some kind of a live stream). I also understand that 7 days doesn't actually prove anything about a person's ability to trade (and a monkey could potentially pick random numbers for 7 days and potentially win), but it'd sure give me a reason to post in here. Plus, this is weighted so huge in your favor even if I was just the lucky monkey picking numbers.

Oh and an edit: brokerage malfunction would negate that particular day (positive or negative). There's usually 2 or 3 times a year when brokerages freeze and you can't get out of trades and then take hours to reset their servers--I've had trades go good and bad during those freezes. It's happened to me before with OptionsHouse, LightSpeed, TradeKing and Etrade.

So about 15% chance if this was straight coin flips...not bad odds assuming it's a flip. Two problems with this:

1. The market is far from a random walk. It has trends that might get you over the line often but that spread or asymmetry make unprofitable. For example, if might go up 7 days in a row and then drops.

2. Because of this:
Quote:
I can make as many or as few trades as I want in that day
You can essentially Martingale this, especially near the end. So say you're 4 in a row (will happen often), the next three days you do one bet, if it doesn't work, double the bet, and so on. I would say I could get at least 90% winning days if I did this.

So I think the bet is actually very +EV for you and -EV for me just on the Martingale-type possibility. You're way over 90% to win this imo, given your conditions.

WTF? I've been trading options for years and this has never, ever happened to me. You should go to Interactive Brokers. Fastest interface and executions by far as well.

This is also a deal breaker if the above wasn't already. You only need 3 flips, claimed brokerage malfunction, 4 flips. It puts your odds way up. Bravo for offering a complex bet that to a dummy would look +EV but is very +EV for you. I enjoy a good angle shoot as much as the next guy. Almost as much as I enjoy sour grapes.

To use a poker analogy, OP reminds me of the maniac at the table scooping up tiny pots, while TS is the nit that gets in with the best of it (and actually wins in the long run).

Everyone at the table thinks the maniac is a god and must be on some next-level sh*t. The reality is, when the maniac experiences negative variance, he goes on a downswing much harsher and turbulent than any other player, effectively making him either a net loser, or barely a winner.

Even his proposition of "7 winning days in a row" is illustrative of his fish-like thinking. Instead of being concerned about making +EV decisions, I can see this guy chasing losses like a maniac just to end his day "up". He doesn't think in terms of risk-of-ruin because he's a degen and likes to lose.

Also, life experience tells me that people that come out of the blue with braggadocio boasts and claims usually always end up being full of sh*t and are compulsive liars. Compulsive liars also make for great compulsive gamblers.

Just my 2 cents.

I understand you don't enjoy criticism but from what i've seen you don't really post content. you just post that you made money when you make money, and don't post at all when you're not. iirc you even kind of admitted this. theres a poker goals and challenges thread. i haven't been there in ages but the threads that actually had interest contained content. posters talked about the big hands of their session and broke down the plays. they talked about stakes, game selection, mental state, etc. they didn't create a thread to post results when things were going well. that just comes off as some sort of desire to receive some pats on the back with little self awareness

im not saying you have never posted any content, but from what i've seen its been almost non existent. i don't even care if you dont want to verify your results but if all you're going to do is post your results when things are going well, who cares? if you want to post content, cool it might be interesting. go for it

Also, I missed this comedy. What the actual ****, dude? I'm nearly entirely intraday but some of the biggest, most reliable multiples on weeklies are on multiday runs. Amazon is gold for that on a paradigm shift. Tesla used to be on good news.

You have a huge leak if you're thinking like the above. I'm a little chicken **** too when it comes to holding overnight, but you leave a lot of money on the table if you don't.

I'll give you the opportunity to take my side then, same conditions? You should just be able to enter a small position at the most opportune point in a day, and if it turns negative, simply martingale it until you finish the day with a profit. Simply rinse and repeat for 7 days. You'd apparently be over 90% to win $23k--easy money.

I've used IB. I've used many brokerages. There was a day last year the IB platform wasn't working in the morning. I've also used Eoption, because they've got 10 cents a contract (with a cheap base) which is hella cheap. Ironically, the Eoption platform was actually down this very morning from market open until about 10:15am.

Yeah, I actually figured someone else would want to take it (or hell even stake him in the endeavor). The purpose is a simple "call out." Seven days in a row is truly not that difficult. I think I did 18 in a row for July 2017.

I guess you could start trolling me and a bunch of other posters super hard and get me all riled up and then maybe I'd send you a "call out" bet and then you could make $20k. But alas, you've been a decent guy in the forums, so you might have some serious troll "make up" in order to catch up.

I actually just looked at my July results on the topic of "in a row." I think I may have actually hit 20 days in a row in July, but don't have my trade journal in front of me at the moment. So 7 should be easy money.

I think I'd put my whole net worth on being able to hit 7 profit days in a row over 2 months.

Simply rinse and repeat for 7 days. You'd apparently be over 90% to win $23k--easy money.
My odds of winning are 100%, even blind; there is no possible way to lose this bet under the conditions you set. I was floored by this offer - I thought you were doing a pretty clever angle shoot, but when you flipped it you're basically offering to give $23K to a guy you dislike.

You're achieving nothing except giving away 23K. If I didn't have the money (which you seem to be implying?) I could contact any number of 2p2 friends/traders who'd gladly front the escrow on the quiet - we have a private 2p2 trading chat where we post real time trades, screenshots, ideas. I enjoy getting morons to do own goals, but this isn't my idea of fun.

I guess you could start trolling me and a bunch of other posters super hard and get me all riled up and then maybe I'd send you a "call out" bet and then you could make $20k. But alas, you've been a decent guy in the forums, so you might have some serious troll "make up" in order to catch up.
I seriously thought about taking this bet. It would be ****ing hilarious to have my trolling turn into $23K of cold hard cash. But this is just straight up theft, particularly if you were misled.

I think you may have been misled. Some time ago ASAP PMed a number of people calling me a "fraud" - he's a bit of tiltmonkey who seems to have some kind of issue with me, which is amusing - I assume he PMed you too? Some people have told me and then at my request have fed him back hilarious misinformation about being broke with illegitimate children and living back in Australia with my parents. I never thought a little bit of forum fun with the mentally disturbed would make me a free $23K.

You seem like fun guy and I don't want your money. It serves no purpose even as a callout. If I needed it, it would be an absolute cinch to get any number of people to quietly front me $23K for this bet. You're giving away free money here. Go spend a baller month in Vegas instead and give up trip reports.

Huge props to you for not withdrawing the bet after some time to think about it. You must have realized at some point that you're giving $23K with 100% odds to a guy you dislike.

Yeah no kidding.

Ok--declined and withdrawn.

Although it ends up that the real losers in this are the pups (since technically I believe that "my side" (the 7 in a row) would have required a $2350 donation to the hurricane dogs if it won).

So, instead I'll donate the $2350 to hurricane dogs if I end up with a profit of at least a penny for October 1 - November 30. That will give me a reason to post some results (good or bad) for the 2 months and it's around the same timeframe the donation would have occurred had the bet took place.
