Creating 'Mastermind' Groups
Definition 'Mastermind': "Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people, for the attainment of a definite purpose. "
Hi BFI,
I have googled a lot lately looking for a source of Masterminds or at least people who are truly interested to gather up in a frequent manner
to discuss topics they are trying to advance in. Poker players already gather in"Study Groups" a lot and talk strategy daily (or spam irrelevant stuff ofc).
This can be a very effective method to learn from another and motivate each other.
What I would like to do is to start (one or more) Mastermind Groups focused on different fields I currently want to improve myself in.
These subjects are currently:
- Entrepreneurship / Small Business
- Psychology (Heuristics, biases, decision making etc.)
- Creativity Training
- NLP
and potential others
These subjects are quite large and have several subsets of topics. What exactly we work on together is not fixed at this point. What is most important
for me is to create a stimulating environment with intelligent and motivated people. People that are interested in educating themselves in these (and other ofc)
areas and want to amplify that by doing it together.
A typical Mastermind setup would be to meet on a frequent basis (once a week or twice a month) over Skype and have a specific agenda to talk about.
We can work through specific books together and talk about it in detail. We can pick a specific topic and create exercises to solve and present during the next call.
There many ways to do this, but the main idea is to have consistency, stimulating exchange of ideas, and a sense of accountability.
Of course we can create a Skype group and chat about these topics in there too, but it's crucial to have a sense of accountability and engagement where everyone
adds value to the group. So that each week we assign each other "homework" that we then present / talk about during the calls. I think this kind of "homework" is
crucial to have real growth, otherwise everyone just talks casually and no real progress is made.
I hope we can get something going here. I'll be checking this thread regularly.
