you have made an error in reading his post. they are not angry nor afraid of the NFL activity. Its more of a, rising tide lifts all boats, want to capitalize on the increased exposure.

I don't think the keyword stuff is as important as offering a compelling product and making it easy for people to share it / invite friends. I could be wrong though and will think a little more about that.
I agree with you -- this is great for us. Daily fantasy sports games are the future of fantasy sports. They are awesome, and we've just scratched the surface of the types of games we'll be offering 4-6 months from now. Glad you are enjoying DraftDay.

You need to pay quite a bit for the data feeds, that and the cost of developing the platform are the major (financial) barriers to entry.

Re: Capitalizing off the NFL "borrowing" my companies' idea
Am I the only one who read both of taylors original posts and got the correct impression that draftday not only did not care that the nfl copied them but were pleased at the thought of the free publicity? Can't tell if theres some serious leveling in the thread or how that didn't come across to everyone else.
Regarding your open letter to the nfl: Thought the letter itself was fine, but I already knew from your original post that you liked the fact that they were copying you so not sure if that swayed the way I read your letter because I thought it came across as intended.
Didn't think some of the graphics pertained at all and wasn't sure what you were going with (i.e. the one comparing CEO salaries and other unrelated comparisons between the nfl and draftday)
Really liked the graphic showing how similarly the nfl copied you. Thought this got the point across the clearest in how dead-on their promotion is to yours.

You weren't the only one jrezy but it is interesting so many 2p2ers thought otherwise, especially given the demographic here can't be too far from DD's target market.

Hey Taylor, not trying to badger you about this at all, but given how most of us have commented on the lower half of the infographic not making much sense without more context, are you considering changing it? If not, why?

Think it did, as people on my Facebook who I barely know from different parts of the world were commenting on it.

Re: Capitalizing off the NFL "borrowing" my companies' idea
The NFL is now promoting this with PPC on Google. Here's an ad I saw while running some searches:
NFL Perfect Challenge | NFL.com
www-nfl-com
Play the All New Perfect Challenge Fantasy Game from NFL at NFL.com!
And here's an ad running on Bing which means it's on the Microsoft AdCenter platform and also serving on Yahoo:
NFL Perfect Challenge
Play the NFL Perfect Challenge For A Chance to Win a Million Dollars!
NFL-com

Re: Capitalizing off the NFL "borrowing" my companies' idea
comes off as if youre "trying" to be nice and nonchalant and "flattered" (lol) about it when in fact you are bitter. i agree that the tone is tough to pull off, and you haven't gotten it just yet. i think its ok to be bitter and most people would understand and relate, and thats a good thing. maybe you should let a little more of that come through

tbf, i think your read is way off. i didn't pick up any of that in tc's posts and felt he was being sincere in what/how he is/was feeling.

nah, i felt the same way as greg and i suspect others did, too, which is why there were so many responses from people who "misunderstood"

you have a bad read. not sure what else to say, i'm not pissed at all, i'm happy about this. if i execute on my business like i think i can then the NFL promoting this industry is going to be a great thing for us.
i mean ****, i started CardRunners which wasn't an original idea (there was 1 other site like it). i'm an investor in HEM which was modeled after PokerTracker. i founded DraftDay which is not the first site of its type. getting pissed when someone 'takes' an idea of mine would be so massively hypocritical of me.
business success is about timing and execution. so far i have had some success and it's mostly because to this point i've been pretty good with those two things.
i'm writing a blog post about this whole ordeal and i'll link it up when it's done, hopefully this thread can keep going or maybe i will start a new one about DraftDay in general.

i don't think it matters what we do at this point is the short answer. we took a shot and we failed at getting mainstream media exposure.
that being said, we got more visits to the site the day after the SB than any other day in our existence (by a wide margin). new account creation is on the rise we continue to grow our NBA base. we got a ton of social media exposure out of this as well.
big problems:
1. the NFL didn't explain their promo in their ad. that was unfortunate for us.
2. the media is mostly done talking about the NFL. things will pick up this summer and we're working through some ideas.
