I just wanted to let you know about a new product out there for keeping 'the pulse' of the real estate in your area. It's called Zoocasa. Just google 'Zoocasa', type in the city or neighbourhood you are interested in and go to work!
It is very similar to Zillow in the U.S. All I can say is...FINALLY!!!!

Homezilla gives you the average price of a home in a neighbourhood but that is really only useful for homogeneous neighbourhoods. I am under the impression that impression that in the States you can get what is basically a very rough appraisal of specific properties. I do really like that Homezilla taps into Stats Canada to give average income for neighbourhoods.
If your city uses a market price tax assessment process you should be able to access assessments on any given property via your city's website. It's rough at best for obvious reasons, but you can check out the list price vs assessed value on a number of examples to get a general idea of what sort of premium/discount seems to prevail at the moment in a given neighbourhood/price point/etc
