Books on startups, entrepreneur related

Anyone have some good recommendations for great books on small business start ups?

Assume it's much more of an "art" than say investing, so figure theres not a consensus on what defines a good book.
But very open to any suggestions.

The E Myth is a very good primer

And a very quick, easy read--

REWORK, the book by the 37signals founders, is pretty good and a very quick and easy read.

Losing My Virginity, Richard Branson's autobiography, probably won't teach you much about being a successful entrepreneur but it's a very entertaining read that you might get a few things out of.

I think the most effective way to learn about startups is to create them and find answers to your questions as you go along.

FWIW, it doesn't necessarily have to be about startups. It can be any random website.

Nice to see a recommendation for REWORK here, I've been considering ordering it. (OT: I'd highly recommend basecamp.com from 37signals)

The Lean Startup is being talked about a lot at the moment. You may have heard about MVP (minimum viable product) and continuation iteration- AFAIK these have been made popular by this book. (website)

I'm half way through Web Analytics 2.0. It's a good read so far, quite long winded but explain analytics in awesome detail, miss-conceptions, things to do/not to do etc. So far I would recommend it.

The writing is pretty awful and the message is little more than "build something that will live on its own without your continued involvement unless you want to be a slave to yourself." But, some people really seem to like it.

Haven't read Re-Work but I do enjoy DHH's talks.

Agree it's not very high level, but I liked it and it fits what the OP's asking for

The best business book imo is No Nonsense Mgmt by Richard Sloma--everyone should read that if they are interested in business

What are you hoping to get out of the books, OP?

Boo Hoo was good imo. Cant imagine you would play so badly but it was a good read on ploughing ahead full-steam towards a cliff edge.

Re: Books on startups, entrepreneur related

The I Love Marketing site is priceless. There is a free ebook there that is only 35 pages (one of the best things you will ever read about marketing) and there are at least 70 free podcasts and a new one every single week without fail. They all last over one hour. There are some "upsells" on the site but I've never bought any of them. The free stuff are awesome.

As for books, read Innovation and Entrepreneurshp by Peter Drucker. The chapter about New Ventures beats The Lean Startup by 28 years but you should read the Lean Startup too.

E-Myth, definitely.

Business Model Generation is totally awesome.

I'm not a fan of the E-Myth. Based on people's love for it I suggested it before reading it myself. Started reading it at the same time as the people I suggested it to -- it was so basic that I was embarrassed I had suggested it to anyone.

You need more than one book for more than one field of expertise:

Motivation - Dan Pena
Entrepeneur - Michael Masterson - ready,fire aim

Business:
Trump - think like a champion
E-myth is also good
Chashvertising
