Re: August 2012 Trading thread

Long SMTX @ $2.92 going into their earnings next week. Easy YOY comps, should crush them.

Also like long KTCC @ $7.18. They had a pretty great MRQ but the baby got thrown out with the bath water. Earnings later in August.

Somebody's 9:30a EST coffee break and extra long line at Starbucks was rather expensive.
so how does this work? they program their computers with a week's worth of trades and hope skynet doesn't become self-aware?

or do their plays move the market wrt the stocks they're buying and selling so they space it out over a week so it's not so obvious?

but then, it's not illegal for me to buy so much of a stock that it's price increases, then sell it for a profit, is it. I suppose I'd have to hide that fact from potential buyers, unless it's hard to find out. I don't understand why HFT isn't illegal to begin with though.

Re: August 2012 Trading thread

just to be prepared for tomorrow, I'll be watching LTD, CELG and PNRA for long opportunities. Don't think I'll be taking anything.

Trying to avoid getting chopped up.

Re: August 2012 Trading thread

you spend way too much time on the sidelines............

it sure takes a lot to kickstart you into gear ..............

and then you usually state you missed it.............

and stay on the sidelines longer.........

go back to paper trading and learn how to make quicker decisions,

or make any decisions

do something, anything for cripes sake

take a flyer on an option....... buy an etf, long or short

flip a coin, throw a dart

just saying

I'd take spankwire/redtube over coffee break for it all.

Yahoo etc. are just easy convenient places to get quick info/general news on multiple companies without downloading PDFs/navigating unfamiliar web pages. But I don't make buy/sell decisions without checking the real financial reports.

LTD left the barn, PNRA left the barn, Celg not ready yet (I want this one higher).

Taking cash position over the weekend. I'll probably have to look short now.

Thx, closed out the rest of my puts on LNKD.
Seems like they just can't miss.

Still made ~18% overall on the LNKD trade, so I can't complain.

Re: August 2012 Trading thread

Dumping CSCO as a long for a slight loss.
Added to ANAT, which is my default "I dunno what to do with excess cash right now, so let it sit here for now" long position.
