I've got some scripts in development and know how to get financing. Curious if anyone here has any experience in this field?

two options for you

1) get an agent, have him try to sell/option your script

2) contact producer directly and sell/option your script

had a friend who was and still is pretty big into this... tried to pitch a script to paramount as well as a smaller producer. His very close, somewhat connected in hwood friend was his agent

If you go to any major studio and your script is good, be prepared to be compensated a small amount for the script only. My friend went into it thinking that he would make tons + royalties etc. but really the studios just work as hard as they can to get you to relinquish property rights and pay you a small amount and you get no creative control after you sign it over. I read the contract they gave him and it almost made me cry. And thats if your script is good, people think poker is dead, but the movie business is insanely tough.

If you have the choice, and don't know any indie studio people, try and finance it yourself (or have your social circle help out) if its lower budget IMO.

Thats what i'd do If I really wanted things to go my way and still have control over the project. You can still do great things with just a small budget, look at a movie like Margin Call, prob one of my favorite films of the year, made a ton and only cost like 3-4 mill.
