Good call on selling before earnings. I always like selling the day before earnings, usually you'll get a nice run up then and it's much more risk adverse then holding and praying through earnings.
Welcome back man. Glad to read you made money on Amzn. I noticed it rallied and wondered if u were still in.

I was pleasantly surprised to see CELG finally pop. I'd actually expect a follow through now tomorrow as this was overdue imo.

I have a good three weeks til earnings. I'm worried much more about the general market than the stock in the interim. Do you think I should ride the consolidation and hold til day b4 earnings or just set a stop at 80 and lock it up if it pulls back tomorrow (I'm around +5%).

I'm def going to raise my stop to something profitable, I'll wait til tomorrow's open to select a number.

Below is what I check in with daily. I know it's an FX site but the news releases are pretty general and you can filter by low, medium & high priority news. I keep my filter set for only the high priority (red) news and make sure I try not to put a trade on right before, during or after those releases.

http://www.forexfactory.com/calendar.php

In addition, they post the results of the news & a brief recap after it's release.

*Back when I traded stocks, my broker provided a short-term outlook on upcoming releases specific to the stock/company I had on my watch list.*

Hope this helps. I'm curious as to what everyone else uses.
That calender is very nice, easy layout and even includes chart info, thanks for the link!

Re: April Trading Thread

This entire bear market rally from sprin 2009 to present is all AAPL + smoke and mirrors, cheao money chasing equities.

I said all 2010-2011 price the dow in gold and you will see the real returns were 0.

Price it in worthless greenbacks and you made some fake money returns.

We will see what happens to these markets when they pull the plug on the QE.

My guess is bernak will dump another trillion in there once the S&P500 breaks under 1200 this spring.

Lol, woke up too late to sell CELG at 80. As promised I'm not just going to panic sell into this.

There is a decent chance buyers will come in and buy the market weakness. Setting stop at 78.45 and if it finds support at 78.53 I'll ride it a bit looking to get out on the way up.

So at what point does this highpsiguy finally get the boot from this thread? Because right now he's like the angry, burnt-out, jaded YELL-AT-THE-CLOUDS loser who stays on the sidelines and yells out trollish predictions to everyone that doom is coming.

Dude's been warned plenty.

Edit: i might be alone in thinking this but jfc i really feel like killing myself after reading posts

Re: April Trading Thread

I got into NURO today. I think the Canadian Walmart news could lead to much bigger sales (US Walmarts?) and was mostly taken with a yawn and am willing to take a small risk at the 0.78 per share price.

Do your own DD. Good luck.

I panic sold =). I posted the above quote this morning at 79.19 and at least got out at 79.41.

Bottom line for me was the market is just getting scary. Market clearly wants to sell any bad news right now and with jobs and earnings season around the corner it's a good time to lock it up.

4.3% profit. I hope a few of you came along. I also hope no one listened to my MCD trade yesterday, the market and a downgrade killed that one quick.

Moving forward I think this sell off will set up some good trades on the long side. I have a nice watch list already prepared for that scenario.

My next move is to come up with some short ideas that can work if jobs, aapl, or earnings changes trajectory.

It will likely be cash or day trades for me next two weeks.

I speak the truth, and have contributed alot of useful information of late, if you listened to me you would have sold SU, TCK, GG, etc etc...

guess what they have all lost 10-15% in the last few sessions alone.

Thought AAPL was overvalued at $540, SAID cant short the bubble though...

I have continuously said TSX = garbage, and the TSx keeps proving me right.
