I wouldn't buy an Air either. Out of around a dozen features I wanted it maybe covered 5. I thought the basic Vizio TL lineup was better in nearly every way (save for battery life and the fact that you can actually type on the MBA).

Since you mention it though the MBA is well on it's way to becoming the sub-$1k product I'm talking about. It was almost $2k a few years ago, far less now & at the moment Apple's not-so-secret ebay refurb store is selling them at an all-time low. Unless they discontinue it they'll need to either lower the price or give it upgrades, starting with that screen. Being thin and light w. great battery life is nice, but Haswell launches this year and there's going to be a lot of thin and light computers with great battery life by Christmas. And tablets.

Yeah and it's rallying on no real positive news. While it's competitors have released news to sighs and yawns.

Pretty new to the forums, bar my one locked threat a year ago - but I am a huge aapl bull who got long around 470 level. love everything about the name, especially all the noise thats driving the stock lower about margins and samsung etc. has given us an opportunity to buy the greatest company of our time at an outrageous multiple.

I expect it to be a bumpy ride ( maybe q2, even q3 slight top line miss) as some analysts have said but the key is to be patient.. this is an amazing company with amazing products that produces amazing amounts of free cash flow. sure margins may compress but consumers are buying multiple devices... not to mention that these devices generate free cash flow (apps, services) as well. along with the embedded new product announcement options I easily see this thing ~650 in 8-12 months. look forward to getting involved in the conversation

iPhones account for little over 40% of Apple's revenues but more than 60% of the profits. iTunes, for all of its popularity, is only part of the ecosystem and doesn't contribute directly to revenues (it's only ~10%)

Apple was only great when Jobs was at the helm for the first decade of 21st century. It was quite miserable without Jobs last time Jobs was out.

Interesting jump today, seems to be holding that $420 mark. I might be a few more shares long tomorrow.

I have a friend who just worked on an ad campaign for Apple, and she had to sign a NDA agreement, but she said they're coming out with some really cool stuff in the next couple of years.....who knows though.

The most highly followed company in the world by millions of analyst and managers of money, but low and behold, WorldBo just found a way in! Get at em'!

I was really impressed by the service I got on my last visit to the Apple store. Really curious how many people become Mac users and then switch back to something else. Curious how much loyalty they get in the laptop space. I'm sure the phones see a lot of flip-flopping. But I could never go back to PC now, ever.

That's been true constantly since like 2004.

I have a question, maybe someone here can help me.

I now have a 13" Macbook Air, I run Vmware and PT4 while playing poker. I find that this make the fan go super loud and some causes PT4 to lagg. I am guessing it is because the macbook air isn't powerful enough. I bought this Air 1 year ago.

I am wanting to upgrade to the Pro as I am sure I will see much better performance, what Macbook Pro would you recommend getting? I travel 10 months of the year hence why I need a laptop.

Appreciate the feedback.

I fortunately sold a big chunk of my position in the $600's but admittedly held onto way too much and have seen most of my profits disappear.

Bought another chunk when it fell to $420 and now will probably only buy again if it drops again post-earnings. Think it could go to $350 on earnings assuming no announcement of how they plan to use their cash hoard.

AAPL lost 9-10% this week

AAPL down 44-45% from 52 week high

Kind of sick if you think about it

MSFT and INTC up more than 3% this week, and the AAPL Universe was decimated this week.

Does not compute

I heard a lot of that about Nortel stock back in the day. Obviously Apple is not Nortel. I'd just be careful about using the previous highs to decide if a stock is "cheap".

Pretty sure both of these guys are not using previous price to determine if it is cheap or not.

Back of the envelope DCF and other valuation metrics...

Ya I was more warning without any sort of context to the comment. And these guys know 1000 times more than me, so my reply wasn't any sort of snub. I heard a lot of people say that about Apple at 600, so my statement was more for the noobs like me who will call a stock cheap on the way down.

when I worked at a discount brokerage you wouldn't believe how many people would buy a stock simply because it's at a 'low' compared to it's all time high and therefore has value.
