I read on a different forum that
AMC Advisory Council (a survey panel for customers) floated the idea of a unlimited pass at a fair price, ~$25 a month. More loyalty and concession dollars extracted from their frequent customers. They wouldn't have to give up money to a company that will soon be bankrupt (Moviepass was rescued by that buyout).
The AMC theaters around me have been surpassed by leather recliners, reserve seating, on-premise alcohol, and better dining options.
The AMC 30 in Orange used to be one of the top grossing theaters in the country; nowadays you'll be lucky to get theaters without sound/projection issues, and even functional clean restrooms.
