So the wife and I decided to start our diet and workout program today after having our first child. Anyways, for me, trading still gives me the benefit of learning valuable information about investing while sitting in my den, drinking an ice cold Pabst and changing my son's diaper. It's a life I will not regret.

Thanks again to Ahnuld, who motivated me enough to make my first trade and buy HOS! As well as TMUS, POST and TTWO.

Good luck to all in 2016!

Watched a video on Bloomberg as it said holiday retail sales were up this year 7.9%.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-us...0UB0Z620151228

Expect all the retailers that went down 50% to rebound. M, KSS, and DDS definitely.

First real year of investing beyond retirement funds. Donked it up pretty good.

Did well all things considered -- mainly due to NFLX, AMZN, FB, DIS, and POST (thanks Ahnold). Sold my losses in HOS for the tax savings.

Not that confident in how good 2016 will be for the markets or economy. Really wish I had hung out in this forum instead of the poker ones and OOT when I discovered 2+2 in the mid 2000s.

Completely disagree w/ this thesis we will see a meaningful rebound, if anything B&M retailers will underperform again this year.

how do you guys forecast 2016 ? I have now read a decent amount of articles that predict a market crash in the near future, what are your thoughts on this possibility?

I would bet that if you google the author names that are predicting a crash in 2016, you'll find the vast majority, if not 100% of them having been calling for a crash every year since the last crash, or even worse they've been permabears for a decade plus.

It's only mildly interesting if it's someone who was bullish from 2009 to now and they have some novel reason for why they've changed.

Just wanted to say I will enjoy reading this thread, and hope 2016 is kind to everyone. Will be very interesting to reflect on everything a year from now.

The market is not going to crash in 2016.

Still 2015 but this LEI is ridiculous. Currently only 1.4m shares outstanding, but after their deal they will have 14.5m o/s. So essentially the market is tacking on $100m market cap for this deal. Not really something you can short unfortunately. Since the float is currently so small, shorts will likely get bought in fairly soon.

Thought I'd share in case we still had any belief in EMH

Here's the PR

Microcap Lucas Energy (LEI +392.7%) has struck a deal with 21 entities and individuals to buy interests in Oklahoma oil and gas-producing properties and undeveloped acreage. It's paying $5M in cash, assuming $31.4M in debt, and issuing 13M common shares and 552K preferred shares. The preferred shares are convertible into 3.94M common shares at $3.50/share, and will bear a 6% interest rate.Lucas: "The properties currently produce in excess of 1,200 net barrels of oil equivalent per day (BOE/d), of which 53% are liquids from 114 producing wells. The bulk of the production is from the Hunton formation holding approximately 43,000 gross acres (9,900 net acres) in central Oklahoma. Further, offset development drilling opportunities for at least 40 additional wells have already been identified. According to a recent third-party reserve report (as of December 1, 2015), total proved developed reserves (PDP) are 5.4 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBOE) comprised of 6% oil, 47% natural gas liquids (NGL) and 47% natural gas."A Q1 closing is targeted. Lucas still needs to place a commercial bank facility to finance its $5M cash payment. Post-closing, the company will have 14.5M common shares to go with its preferred shares.

Good luck guys, +1 to Ahnuld. I got some TMUS at the end of 2014 in the mid or high 20s and rode it till the low 40s. Was very consistent for me and saved me numerous times when other trades went south or flatlined. I got out at the right time and was tempted to buy it again at $35 last month but got greedy thinking it'd go lower.

2016 kind of worries me and I don't have a TMUS to hang on to (I'm not sure they can sustain that kind of growth or how much more upside there is at $40). I'm still waiting for DISH to make a damn move on it.

Strongly considering DHT. They ship oil. Balance sheet is relatively healthy and day rates for tankers have been going through the roof. Them doing really well is somewhat dependent on oil remaining cheap and supplies high.

Also HOS in case I am wrong about the price of oil. Nothing to add that hasn't been said by others in the value thread.

BWLD. This is a play on me being a bit overweight.

Still holding my VXX Jun $23 puts. It hasn't done much (up ~5%). Good chance that I will add a ZIV long position on Monday. Contango is relatively strong one the 4-7 month futures.

Yeah lol good point. But that being said I am short some. Longs are totally out to lunch here, but they can still be stupid enough to push it higher

GL to everyone in 2016! Staying long with SBUX, NKE, and VUZI adding more on dips.

Like many others I'm skeptical going forward into 2016. I'm really focused on adding some long positions in Energy/Oil and Tech.

In Energy/Oil, I'm thinking of bundling a few stocks together like BP or TOT (stable big oil, that have >20% upswing), MRO/STO (smaller oil co. with bigger potential up 30-40% and obv bigger risk), and a solar company like TERP/SUNE (currently have a small position with SUNE, GOOGLE just created a program that assists customers to determine profitability of installing solar using weather data, satellite images, etc).

I still consider myself as a novice and always open to ideas and suggestions. Likewise I look forward to passing along any news that may be useful.

Hey all. Ended up down 12% for the year , which for a permabear like me that takes leveraged plays on high volatility scenarios. It's OK , especially coming off 2013-2014 good years. Went into the year short lnkd and dnb. (Options and stock ). I can't wait to cover both at 25%+ lower. Will hopefully be more active this year.

This start to the year is excellent for the bulls (well, the ones smart enough to be in cash at 210 as everyone told them to be). A major flush and then good earnings is the best thing for a 2016 bull and new highs
