Haven't made it out for Series in 2 years WSOP King's Room

Is that Series-seasonal 50 stud 8 game still the most sketchy-crooked-marked-cards-collusion fest in all of poker? (I think of it as "hosted" by that well-known, beer drinking pro who runs a crew of cheats and likes to attempt to flush ill-gotten tourney chips down Borgata toilets.)

And does the 75/150 Omaha 8 game play in the KR?

I played the 50 stud 8 game in 2008-9 and there were a bunch of old guys with southern accents who I assumed were regs who came to Vegas for the series mainly to play cash games, particularly that game. Then there were some kids who appeared to be Internet reg types. Then a few other apparent randoms, but not huge fish.

I won a little there in like 20 hours of play and didn't notice anything funny going on, but I might not notice. Maybe the game got weirder later on.

Went in the King's room last week in the afternoon and the only face I recognized was Jamie Gold.

That's a big step up for the former Tropicana poker room ambassador..

Glad to hear that.

I lost a couple of racks in that game the first time I played it, and was subsequently warned off from playing it further by a player whose integrity is largely accepted as a given in poker, and whose judgment I trust. When I replayed a few key hands in my head later, I realized I was getting squeezed in spots where it didn't make much sense, and that at least one of the squeezers very infrequently showed down hands, even if he was raising on 6th. When I was later told that the game was "infested" with a crew of Las Veg locals who collude to squeeze, who play on the same bank roll, signal hands to one another, and have a collective penchant for marking cards, I never went back.

I love stud 8, and would play that game, specifically, full time if I felt assured that it was clean. Maybe I'll give it another chance, based on your experience. I may ask around a little first, though

But would be even more inclined to play it again if it's played in KR now, given how much nicer those accommodations are than where it used to be spread: right up front, by the main brush, in that huge room at Rio (the Palace Room, is it?). I can't hardly stand it in there anymore. I always just end up going to play cash at B instead...

It was probably OK back when I played it, but it doesn't sound good with a team colluding and marking cards. Stud8 is probably particularly susceptible to that sort of thing.

If a crew like that came in, the existing regs would probably know the leave. Yeah, stud8 is probably my best game, at least as a cash game.

Whatever people from that limited pool of players say on here always comes back on them in some kinda way, so I always try to keep it positive on here... And if I'm ever tempted to chime in re who in poker is a DB/scumbag/angle-shooter/cheat/thief, I stop myself and just keep that **** to myself. Most of it's already been said by someone else on here, anyway.

There's a lot of +EV in poker to being known in the rooms as someone who is capable of discretion.

It's super weird that you would post about how noble you are when just a few days ago you had no issue maligning a player based largely on hearsay. Anyone who has ever played poker with the person you are referring to knows exactly who it is. Or anyone who watched poker on ESPN from 2003-2006, reads NVG or takes 5 seconds to Google the toilet incident. I've never seen that person play 50/100+ poker at the Rio from 2008-13 or this year. If he ever engaged in collusion with another player in a live poker game in my 100+ hours of live play with him at 100/200+, he did a very poor job of it, because I don't recall ever seeing him leave a poker table with chips.

Sorry to cut into your action.

I don't talk **** on here, unless I've been cheated by you and yours.

I guess I should have clarified that.

You know what though? You're right: I contradicted my own self in a way that's kinda wack.

I admit that I was drunk as hell when I posted about the 50 s8 game having the fix in. In my drunken state, my intention was to give a heads up, more than to malign.

And I've been thinking about your post and I don't think it was cool for me to give such OBV references to whom I was referring.

That said, I've got a bone to pick with him apart and aside, and that colored my judgment, too.

Finally, I will admit to having just talked mad **** about another player whom I would 100% call the exception that proves the rule: although I really don't think it's best/wise/a-good-look to malign other players on here, I confess that I just posted something mad nasty--name calling and all--about "Jesus" Chris Ferguson in that thread about him being in 2nd Place in "POY" points. I don't have any problem talking smack about his funky ass.

But otherwise, I apologize for my hypocrisy to the extent that is warranted. My bad. NH.
