1) Todd is a relatively well known player. He's most famous for looking silly swinging a seat cover when he won a wsop bracelet some years ago, but he's also known for being a profitable high stakes player for years. He's not some kid attention seeking, he has been involved in the scandal from the beginning. While the number crunchers on this site were the most important figures in revealing Ub's treachery, Todd was also involved and brought a lot of attention to the issue including a 60 minutes interview.

2) For the PH nut huggers, if you think Phil is simply a pitchman without financial ties to the people who perpetrated this act , then you are very naive. He was very involved with all the actors, heavily invested in the success of the site, it's software, and his "low level" employee comment just shows how far he will go to feign ignorance. For the record I don't think he likely stole a dime personally, but he certainly turned a blind eye to thieves after the fact to protect his investment. He knows exactly what went down and who did it, that's for sure.

You can look at the join dates itt and predict the level of ignorance. Notice the most respected posters in this thread realize Todd did a good thing, even if they personally think he's a douche. A few worry about protecting the game, that's understandable.

Props to UCLA also. For all the outrage when this went down, it's amazing how when actually in his presence all the outraged posters suddenly become fanboys and autograph seekers. At least these 2 didn't talk crap online and then wuss out when he was in front of them.

saying that phil has nothing to do with the scandal is one thing but he is in the public eye as a UB spokesman and judging from his willingness to verbally dispute the issues tells me he knows enough about it to talk about it and he sticks his nose in the air to all the people that got ripped off by being in the position hes in. by staying with them for the money speaks volumes of phils personality and ethics imo. chose to be with a scumbag company expect to be treated as such. noone can get answers from "the company" so why not bug phil about it, keep the pressure on i say.


by the way, i saw the issue about the software awarding him a pot he didnt even win mentioned much earlier in this thread, no responses about this from anyone?

i would think getting proper answers about the scandal are more important than who has a degree from where, noone gives two Fxxxs where you went to school. atm we are trying as a group to help legalize online poker and phil backing a crooked company isn't helping the issues in anyway possible that i can see.

I don't believe it is the only explanation. Likely it has something to do with the WSOP being a TV show and UB being a sponsor. Also, it might have something to do with the potential for disrupting the game, being as the WSOP is also a series of poker tournaments.

The penalty would not have been for discussing UB, it would have been for not doing what the floor said.

For sure getting on PH at the WSOP will help, I just think players staying away from UB in droves will ULTIMATEly have more effect. The more the merrier, yeah!

Phil Hellmuth is an ass no doubt, but do you blame every person that has ever appeared in advertising for Enron let alone everyone that's ever worked there for their scandal which is far worse than UltimateBet? If you don't, and I don't, then you can't possibly blame Hellmuth for the superusers unless you think that HE was THE superuser.

If you really wanted to discuss UB with Hellmuth why didnt you do it away from the table? That way you would surely get a much better discussion than one that is constantly, and rightfully, stopped by the floor. This is the WSOP ME, people are here to play the tournament not to listen to table argument over some Internet site that obviously is never going to go anywhere. Lastly, the hand where PH busted you out, he pretty much pwned you and your thinking process throughout the hand was just poor, starting from preflop. PH is famous for laying down hands and not paying people off when they hit, so you never even had the implied odds to try and setmine with your shortstack. Looks like your little confrontation and subsequent bustout just got you pwned on TV.

Nobody is sure who the victims are, UB will not release a full list of the SuperUsers so that players can check their HH's against the list. There are still many players who feel they are still owed money from UB, and UB has been stalling, IMO so they don't have to pay out any further.

I think Druff is a bit of a Dbag, but at least he tried to bring some heat on PH, the "face" of the company. UB isn't going to do anything else unless they are forced to, and what Druff and UCLA did was a step in the right direction. I think if more players harassed/shamed Phil and Annie publicly, you would get some more info out of UB.
