Re: WSOP to attempt tracking every player in bracelet events
wonder if this will roil any unsavory types. i mean obv joe thug knows his name will get out there if he goes deep, but is prolly honest enough with himself to know that that's very unlikely.

A completely electronic card and chip system would be far less expensive than RFID chips, cards, and tables. A table with nine tablet-style computers, a network, software similar to any of the online sites but set up to log players in at physical table locations, and you could have a live version of an online tournament with every player poking away at their screen, able to see who they're up against in person. Casinos (and probably some players) would love it because it would eliminate the need for actual dealers. I wouldn't place bets against someone already working on it. There's already completely-automated individual tables, and certainly the software to run a tournament with thousands of entries already exists.

This is obviously completely do-able, problems I would see with this are:
1. As soon as it's electronic, all the rigtards will pop out of the woodwork and make wild accusations.
2. It won't look as cool on TV for WSOP. Massive great uber-chip piles are part of the whole experience. Plus players will have to find something else to endlessly fidget with.

Yeah I kind of agree, if you dont have real chips and cards you lose the personnal aspect. On the plus side, we would never have any dealer mistakes again, or timeout issues and hand for hand and bust out positions would be 100%.

If you're playing a bracelet event, you'll be seeing dealers handling a Blackberry- tablet inputting an assortment of data. An overview can be found here.

As a dealer at the WSOP Circuit event in Council Bluffs, I used the ChipTic in their test. All the dealer does is push a button (or two) when a player is seated or when a player busts, and enter player chip counts during the tournament breaks. Pretty easy stuff. Pain to count down everybody's chip stack during the break but dealers aren't doing anything but guarding chips during the breaks anyways.

Re: WSOP to attempt tracking every player in bracelet events
I don't mind a dealer helping me count my stack at the end of a day, or breaking down stacks during an all in, but I sure don't want a dealer touching my entire stack when the room is relatively empty.
Am i being paranoid?

Re: WSOP to attempt tracking every player in bracelet events
To clear up some confusion, from what I have heard the dealers will be counting the chips without touching them. This should alleviate some concerns here.

Well, so far it's worthless. Has anyone seen any reports from this thing?

Re: WSOP to attempt tracking every player in bracelet events
Seems like a step in the right direction. I assume this type of technology and monitoring would make it impossible for chips to disappear or end up in other people's stacks illegally?

Re: WSOP to attempt tracking every player in bracelet events
cant wait for all table to have RFID cards, I might actually win the main event now using a RFID compatible cellphone and a simple custom app or by pretending you drop something on the ground and hack the table during the break to read whole cards and transmit by wifi to your phone or maybe even read the deck of cards coming lol.
Dont think something like WSOP will ever do that... same for debit cards like chip stack, people could simply fill them up lol.

Well they use mostly the same chips. On days where there are multiple events, they have different starting chipsets.

You should of read this post.

So you would need to capture every card, you could theoretically do this, if you have a RFID antena, and the means to process the 'tags'. But lets say you manage to get all 52 cards quite quickly, you would then have to find a way of getting your convert RFID antena underneath each others players spot, to be able to read their cards. I cant think of a way you would be able to do this without someone getting wise. And every deck and every card would have an unique number (not to mention the chips), and like I have already said, Ive not played a WSOP, but at a WPT main event, they changed the deck with every dealer change. Then when your table breaks, you have to start again.
Not to mention that if you managed to do all this without an inside man (which you wont) the powers that be are going to know somethings up when you fold a monster because you are beat, beacuse they get to see EVERYTHING! And I would hope they put some sort of detection in for betting patterns.
I do however like your idea for 50 odd tables for players in the money. This would make the closing days very watchable.
Cliffs : Hacking is next to impossible
