He said himself on twitter. Also, just saw graphics with the stack sizes which somehow I thought was only shown on the river as more of an action summary.

I paid my $10 for the summer.

Can I pay $100 and have last summer's schedule and coverage back?

I like Lon and Norm a lot on the produced shows. The live broadcast, yikes.

Lon and Norm live are pretty brutal. Hartigan and Stapes aren't professional players either and their commentary is so much better. I'm glad they have a pro in their now.

Saw Stapes mentioned as a sideline guy in one of the PokerGo releases, but it may just have been for the main.

Blows my mind that Hartigan hasn't gotten more of a shot in the US. Maybe he doesn't want it. Maybe they think the accent is off putting. But he's utterly fantastic.

+1, I'm surprised the televised Pokerstars events don't get more love in the US as well, they're the best Imo

I think they do a solid enough job when Esfandiari is balancing them out. They keep it light but also serious. My main issue with Stapes and Pokertars is that they get way too silly sometimes which would not be appropriate for a main event final table.

The tournament circuit has evolved a great deal in the last decade with more circuit tournaments traveling around making the game (and big MTTs) way more accessible. It isn't necessary to make the trip to Vegas to experience these tournaments - the majority of us can probably find something similar within a 2 hour drive of our homes atleast once a year.

The WSOP obviously holds its own special place in poker lore, but a big part of its appeal (come play MTTs that you can't find any where else or any other time of the year) is gone.

I sorta agree with that, I know when the MSPT came to Michigan this year they popped a big turn out. Then again that and the HPT usually only run one 1k tournament and leave town. I know the circuit events have more of a schedule. Its far from going to Vegas in the summer and having action everywhere. But I get your point and I think I might agree with you.

Update
One Drop numbers are down.

2017: 130 (correction WSOP.com originally reported 132...29% drop)
2016: 183
2015: 135 (was there reentries?)
2013: 166

Another number that is trending downwards are the daily deepstacks. Tracking the 2pm $235, 2016 and 2017 both had the Colossus right up front in the beginning weeks, here's how they matched up.

2017 first four days: 380,538,706,597 averaging 555 each day
2016 first four days: 538,811,569,739 averaging 660 each day

that's a 16% dip so far.

Today we have the continuation of Colossus which after 1A-1B last year had 5,402 runners, this year it has drawn 4,738. Also the $2.5k Mixed Triple Draw which last year drew 236 runners.

He's only part time now since they chopped the streams in half. He has to deal table games in the pit on his off days.

For free.

The 10k final tables they are no longer going to cover are from events that routinely get star studded final tables with some of the best in the world. Not to mention it's the final table where the bustouts actually matter and the payouts are not insignificant. Compared to again a day two of the main where thousands will bust unceremoniously and there is like a 0.1% chance that any player ever shown on the feature table actually makes the final table.
The Main Event has been missing from live streaming for years now. The sentiment is that it'll be enjoyable to see the event streamed from the get go. Yes, the tables will be filled with randoms, but they're not playing with $500 buyins but rather for a first prize on the order of $7 million. Out of the play of the randoms emerges most of the final table, and often the ultimate winner.

There's no doubt that it's a setback to no longer have final tables streaming live for cool events that didn't make the PokerGo schedule. A comprehensive coverage of the Series would offer a choice of streams on most days, where one could select between a final table for a non-marquee event and early day play for a more popular one.

How many feature table areas do you think they have?
Clue: It's less than 2

Clue: it's not as hard as you seem to believe. Particularly since it's been the way WSOP.com ran their live streaming for the past couple of years, with one final table getting the full treatment (graphics, commentary, multiple cameras), and others being shown without the bells and whistles, but just the tournament announcer, table talk, and view of all the cards to help the viewers follow.

People in the thread seem to want comprehensive coverage that's missing this year, with the paucity of final tables being shown. Better final table coverage would certainly help get subscriptions. Just because the PokerGo/ESPN partnership can't manage better this first year doesn't lock future Series into this years' format.

Right. They are occasionally funny, but it leaves a lot to be desired without any sort of legitimate strategy discussion.

Get Tuchman and Gross in the booth. It's a waste to have them doing this analysis on break.

Lon and Norm are good for the ESPN stream, but people actually paying to watch poker are going to want some more advanced commentary. Stapes/Hardigan Ali/Schulman are the perfect balance of entertaining and strategy

I think Norm and Chad do a great job. Is it the most advanced analysis ever? No, but I don't think that's the goal for the espn broadcast of the main event at least. Too advanced for the average viewer. For the online stream though I could see bringing in some more intense analysis
