I'm no pro, and by no means an elite expert at this game but I'll tell you one thing I know for sure. I've played the last three ME's and a total of ten days over those three years in addition to side events at WSOP, cash games, and other tournaments outside the Rio during the series. And I've done well.
Without exception I have had a good experience with the 45 year old so-called nits: the good players, the no so good, the social, the quiet, the jokers, and the serious ones. The so-called young guns? Not a good experience at all. Brooding, miserable, no fun, entitled, condescending, arrogant, acting like they should never lose to people who are just not as good as they are, to say nothing of the apparent disregard for hygiene (I love it when you burn one before, during, and after playing, but maybe recognize that you smell like a dumpster if you don't change your hoodie once in a while.) Sure, life sucks when you have less than 20% of yourself and you've been grinding your ass off for six weeks in Vegas, but learn to be at least moderately pleasant playing a game that is social in nature because odds are you're never going to bink the big one and even if you do, you're going to find out that 20% of a low six figure cash doesn't go too far after that night at the strip club with your friends.
Were it not for the obvious +ev of playing with the youngsters (especially against a guy like Salas), I'd rather play a a full ring of Salas than a full ring of 20 something wannabes.
