Ninja bump for lol factor. While everyone was busy nut riding negreanu in this thread no one noticed that the OP was erik seidel, which imo makes the first few posts very funny.

Bill Edler - Zero cashes in 2008

What's the point of any kind of ranking system when that kind of variance exists in the poker world?

Bluff's not using that system for the 2008 standings, FWIW.

Re: WPT vs. WSOP

Hi Erik, yo Daniel wasup !

1) Great that you all are posting on 2+2. active participation on 2+2 by industry leaders like both of you has been lacking, to say the least.

2) IF the intent is to decide who the best is, not sure how we are ever gonna decide who the best is. Like Ivey once said, "poker is a situational situation". If the intent is to have some uinified ranking methodology, then that shouldnt be to hard to pull together, good that you are starting the debate.

anyway you guys are both great players and great for the game amd mucho thanks for taking the time to jump on 2+2 for a bit.
(removed attempt to derail thread)
EDIT: almost forgot (Fri 4/5)

Re: WPT vs. WSOP

the easy way to figure out which is better is ask people if they would rather win a WPT title or a wsop bracelet. im pretty sure everyone would say the bracelet so...wsop>wpt IMO

Re: WPT vs. WSOP

Obviously all wsop events arent created equal. Winning the 50k horse or the 2-7 rebuy have fields similar or tougher than the standard wpt event. It is pretty obvious to most everyone that the small buyin wsop events are huge crapshoots with awful structures. There is some skill early where yopu have to play well against fairly bad players. In wpt events, you have to have the skill set to play well against good players. They really are two different games that take fairly different skill sets. So, which is worth more? Being able to play well agsinst bad players with a 20bb stack or against good players with a 100bb stack?

Re: WPT vs. WSOP

Daniel doesn't like preliminary WSOP events where small ball is not a good tactic? Never!

Re: WPT vs. WSOP

Is the WPT really that much better than WSOP with structures? Obviously now it is but back in the days of it starting up the FT's had horrific structures that almost always made it a total luckfest. Do you then include these lucky wins in the ranking systems, or only include the "deserved" wins?

Last edited by Hickley; 11-05-2008 at 10:30 AM. Reason: changed luckbox into luckfest to avoid unnecessary flaming :P
