As far as what I think should be included in the paragraph, I wouldn't include poker at this time. It needs to be something that the majority connect with. Person freedom is nice. I know the fair tax has been gain some momentum to the public. I believe he supports get all troops out of the middle east and Libya. Cutting spending, auditing the Federal Reserve, anti-TSA, anti-Patriot Act are all good talking points.
Also, if you really want to get attention from the masses, you should propose a bill to cut all spending to public schools over x amount of years and give it to charter schools.

I think his statement about poker, his presence here and his attendance at the 2+2 party is newsworthy. Some publications might run a story on that - particularly the Vegas and New Mexico newspapers, as well as any that are pro-Libertarian.
Here is a rough draft:

Republican Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson has issued a statement in support of internet poker players and their right to play poker from the privacy of their own homes without interference from the Government. Today he joined the largest poker forum on the internet, twoplustwo.com, to share his statement with the online poker community, and will be attending a function organized by the website for its users at the World Series of Poker which is currently taking place in Las Vegas.

Hopefully those of us who can afford to will be making donations which the Gov can use to at least make some noise.

re: Why Should Poker Players Get to Know Gary Johnson.
@tomveil (or whoever else wants to chime in for me) This is the first time that I have ever really thought about the tax system being proposed here. Immediately I loved the idea, but then I start thinking about all the problems.
I am wondering two points here:
1) essentially you are saying that I, as a person who makes say....80k a year will not noticed anything different in the two tax systems at years end. basically if I were to make 80k gross, at years end after all expenses and taxes I might have 5k. In the fair tax system, this would prob be the same?
2) In this system there is nothing really there to show wages would make any kind of uptic at all. Just basically that it will spur on business which in turn would create more jobs?
The thing that naturally happens in my mind though, is that the cost of living will "appear" to skyrocket!! Suddenly luxury items will me much much more expensive than before, and this will cause somewhat of a mass clinching of the collective "sphincter" if you will.
Right now, I spend two weeks in the summer blowing a lot of money on my families vacation. This obv has financial benefit to the area in which we are traveling, but once the cost of that vacation seemingly skyrockets, that trip ain't happening.
I understand the emphasis of short term pain for long term gain, but that is a sales pitch that will likely never get you elected. This may or may not be a better system of taxation (I will leave that up to people who have a better understanding) but what it does seem to me though, is a system that is unsalable to the middle/lower class, and so a very steep hill to climb.
What am I missing?

GREAT PLAN!
FAIRTAX is supposedly revenue neutral. The wealthy get a break since they only pay tax on what they spend like everyone else, the corporations pay no taxes -- so where does the money come from? Yeah. But hey, the wealthy get to invest their tax free savings to make more tax free money! wheeeeee!

I think you summed it up when you said "when you decide to work" you'll still have to pay taxes and not freeload; no more beating the system for you.

Another politician trying to get poker players votes. Pointless. What a bad man.

I know right, just think if every politician tried to get poker player's votes. How stupid would that be?

The government cut off your income. Then the night in shining armour comes out of the woodwork and offers to make it all better. Get's your vote then you never hear from them again. Mark my words, online poker will make a comeback in America. With or without endorsing this low life.

Seems irresponsible. The guy is basically asking for donations in a "Getting to know Gary Johnson" thread. Before people donate, they should probably understand the consequences if this type of tax proposal were ever implemented. Not to mention the candidate's limited foreign policy/isolationist stance. He does seem like a relatively genuine guy, and the Everest summit is impressive.

It really doesn't sir. Americans are so blinded by the storm. I feel for you guys I really do. But this guy won't help you and no amount of Jack Binions and his Washington friends, or Reid or anyone will make this better. I think it's disgusting you can't play and make a living, but lowering yourself to supporting this two faced fool, will get you nowhere. It was the US Government who shut you down along with freezing your funds. How can you trust anyone even remotely to do with them?
