Let's keep focused on the douche at hand. And Brunson was clearly angleshooting, holding that stack out and looking for a reaction.

douche imo
While most of his action seemed pretty douchey (especially re: the dealers), I actually think this was the least douchey; if I was drawing dead HU for a bracelet and the announcer was convinced I was still live, I think I'd be a bit annoyed at him.

Yeah, really. It should be based primarily on his vaginal cleansing properties obv.

Re: Why is John Monnette considered a douche??

as a fanboy who wanted Ivey to win I only think his berating of the dealers was unnecessary and jerkish esp asking "You know what game we're playing?" and "Have you ever dealt this game before?"

edit - also i dunno if anyone else noticed after the second comment to this older dealer the dealer gave him a serious staredown. Also after Ivey took two major downswing pots before reswonging back up Ivey asked his buddy for "Altoids" gangsta

Yeah, your description isn't really anywhere close to what happened. I'm being a bit nitty but I've heard a bunch of people use this clip to show what a douche Phil Laak is, and I've never understood that. For some reason your description is what people remember instead of the actual event. Phil Laak was 100% right to ask for a clarification on the rule.

Brunson only mentioned California because Phil Laak said that in LA what Brunson did would be considered a bet.

I really do not like Phil Laak at all, but watching that HSP clip I found Brunson's move to be pretty lame, and I cannot honestly say that I would have reacted any differently than Laak did.

Exactly.

It is so incredibly unprofessional to demean the dealers, in the manner that he did.

This certainly wasn't my intent, and I think the majority of this thread sides with Laak, including me.

Based purely on memory, I described Laak going "crazy", but I don't think that implies that he is in the wrong. But true, after viewing the clip he was much more composed that I had recalled, so I guess my memory of him was polluted with the plenty of other times Laak is just obnoxious...

Monnette Penalized for Ripping Up the Queen of Hearts
John Monnette raised to 12,000, Justin Bonomo called from the small blind and the big blind called. The flop was the . Are plastic cards that easy to rip?

I think I experimented with ripping jokers in a copag setup, and I don't remember it being easy.

I watched the 2-7, found him really annoying, he seemed like a smartass the way he acted and some of the things he said about various hands.
