Everyone gives Ivey or Dwan a lot of **** for abandoning the WSOP. I think Holz should get the same criticism. Where is he? Didn't play the main event? He is so arrogant that the thinks he can become another Dwan or Ivey and create a sense of mystery about himself.

I think he said he was going to be playing less tournaments, and only going to ones that were either especially good or in an especially fun location or ones he had a lot of friends going to. I don't think he's looking to play 10k tournaments.

Ivey isn't playing because he has to be in court.

Anyone who gives another person **** for deciding not to play a tournament should rethink their life.

I think a lot of the fish have trouble understanding that the ME is akin to playing the lottery and you can waste "X" days and not even cash whereas if you are a high limit player you can play "x" days in a cash game (assuming you are crushing it of course) and have a much better ROI in those days before the bubble bursts.

So the value is more for people who want to take a shot at a big prize or someone who normally plays 5-10k tournaments. It really is a giant minefield.

Someone started a thread here about Ivey (and Doyle) possibly missing the main event, a few days ago. Thread died off after a couple of dozen replies, with maybe one person that shared the OP's concern.

So to answer the question in the OP - the same reason they give Ivey and Dwan a free pass, as they should. Almost everyone else understands they are adults who can do as they choose, and owe you nothing.

He doesn't need it. He can dodge bullets, baby!
