What were the 2+2 forums like in the beginning?

I just randomly started thinking what 2+2 might have been like pre-Moneymaker. I don't even know when these forums first appeared online, but here's a couple of questions for the old-timers:

When was this forum first started? Which of the posters who are still active have been here the longest? Are there any funny threads from like 8 years ago that'd show how much poker has changed? You know, something like random lolivepros posting advice where they put people on exact hands instead of ranges or Ed Miller asking 1/2NL advice, or NVG threads asking who's that african american dude from New Jersey crushing the games in Bobby's room and playing high stakes craps?

So, funny links to old threads or random stories from the 2+2 good old days ITT please!

In the beginning sklansky created the heaven and the earth...And sklansky saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good

for more look for a thread titled something like "post things only original 2+2ers would understand"

i think the forums go back to around 2001 tho im not sure. iirc dynasty (who can probably answer a few of your questions cause he's been here forever) said before the 'besy of joey' thread is the longest running thread on 2p2. in terms of strat the oldest thread i can remember is the AQ vs JJ debate but it probably isnt that old since i remember strassa posting in it.

I cannot think of any reason why anyone would play poker for real money over the web. There is absolutely no control over collusion between players. Players can use proxy servers to disguise their locations so checking their location is meaningless. There are no controls on the sponsoring internet poker company.
If you play, you do so at your own risk. When you consider some of the stupid things people do, playing internet poker isn't so bad. So, go ahead, it's your money!

Things sure have changed

Alot of limit holdem back then. Jim Brier put of some great stuff, he had a great poker mind. Greg raymer was another one that could analyse most hand perfectly. Quality of post were more important than quanity of post. Just my opinion.

Does anyone know how cards are dealt in online poker? That is, a dealer, with someone present? Or a computer?
Online poker was a new thing back then LOL. I played live poker for a long time and never thought about playing online for many years, I guess I was a late comer to the online world too, hell i didn't even get on the internet till 98 LOL
