At What Price Is a WSOP Bracelet Sale Not Tacky?

The TJ thread spurred the following thought:

Assuming

1. The bracelet is not for the main event.

2. It is not of historical signifigance.

3. We specify it is intrinsically worth $1000.

4. The seller IS a well known poker player.

5. The sale is NOT for a charity event.

6. The seller is not in financial difficulty and everybody knows it.

Given these stipulations what price would the sale have to be where you would not have negative thoughts about it?

Edit: Depending on how you interpret "intrinsically." Also, this assumes that your measure of "tackiness" is dependent on making a proift.

If point 6 applies then the price is irrelevant, the TJ thread inspires negative thoughts only because we infer from the sale that he is broke (maybe incorrectly).

It worths the value of its rocks and gold when sold\melted\we.

What's the point, brag about a bought bracelet?? Ppl say that even a won bracelet doesn't worth much theses days...

Edit: If given away to somebody, than maybe worths something, idk.

If TJ is not in any financial trouble, implied from 6 from David's post, then I think just putting it up for sale in the first place is tacky. Granted it's just a bracelet that you would never wear around (unless you are Jamie Gold) have a little personal pride and keep it as a symbol of your accomplishment.

David,

Since you own a few...can you detail the pull those pussy magnets have? That is not factored here.

Re: At What Price Is a WSOP Bracelet Sale Not Tacky?

Um, what? Why would this ever be considered tacky regardless of price?

It might be considered sad or something, if the seller actually cared about the damn thing for some reason and was selling out of desperation.

Otherwise, it's just another transaction. They DO give out a whole bunch of those things.

DS, I'm curious at what price would you sell one of your bracelets? I assume you have a price.

If i ever win the main event i would keep it.

Any other event i would just give it to somebody in the crowd or overnight it to cash4gold lol

Re: At What Price Is a WSOP Bracelet Sale Not Tacky?

not a direct answer to OP, but i think people are calling TJ pathetic not because he sold a bracelet but because he probably sold it only because he is busto from gambling and would have otherwise wanted to keep it.

i dont think there's anything wrong with someone selling a bracelet because they'd rather have the money it's worth than some tacky piece of jewelery awarded by a corporation.

Don't think it's ever tacky.

Didn't Ted Forrest buy a ME bracelet for $5K?
