I can sympathize with him.

The mother wanted her son to be a winner at all costs.

Jordan overestimated his skill and didn't want to bring shame for not winning and then went at all lengths to prove he is a winner, and lost it all ($50,000).

The real tragedy to this story is that 2 people's unrealistic emotions mentally pushed Jordan out of poker forever. He could've started from scratch and built up a roll or used proper bankroll management with the $50,000 stake.

The game has changed so much since then but I'd still rate him favorite/+ev in a NLHE internet donkament against a random field of 2017 internet forum tards, even being rusty.

He was pretty good. Had leaks, but back then he wasn't someone you wanted to see at a final table. He was like LilHoldEm, where the only way to get him off your ass was hit back early and hard and make him realize that the pickings were softer elsewhere, so better hope he didn't have a hand when you decided to 'make your stand'.
