What happened to Drag the Bar training site?

Been down for at least a week I'd guess. According to FB, it was down mid January for a while, but no updates.

:D
I was to get it free with winner poker, but I eventually didn't deposit as my hud wouldn't work with them, or I'd be well pissed.

Apparently sold to WPN, that's pretty interesting, curious to see how it ends up working out, I like the idea of a poker site giving free content to users. I think it will diminish the fear that some part time players have of not having the money or tools needed to compete. It also can keep players more interested in the game of poker. Playing around with chips gets boring, but when you start to realize how much more there is to poker than "getting lucky," it's just an awesome feeling to start thinking about hand ranges/range vs range thinking (like the Galfond article that got so many people inspired years ago).

Hey guys, we apologize for the frequent downtime over the last 6 weeks. Its been a little bit hectic as we've been completing the sale of DTB to the Winning Poker Network. The good news is that the stabilization work has been 95% completed and things should be much better going forward.

WPN is going to make DragTheBar 100% free to everyone, while keeping all the same coaches on board and existing content on the site. It was always a goal of ours at DTB to make poker training accessible to everyone, and we're very happy that WPN is finally making that possible.

While myself and my team will be stepping aside, we hope you guys continue to enjoy and benefit from DTB going forward.

Good news. It was overly expensive compared to other training sites, which is why I stopped subscribing.

No money in poker, all the coaching free.

Looks like it is down again?

I suppose cannot complain as it is free, but I wonder what the story is now.

It's been down since yesterday. I thought it was a scheduled thing, but I don't know.

Thanks for the link. Will have a look.

I watched some twitch at first, but I found it kind of dull after a few views. People will probably always stream now, but I think the viewers will go down.

I think deucescracked is best. The way they do courses is great. It's not just watching someone playing with themselves.

People like different sites. I hated deuces cracked coaches.

It's an interesting one. Fair play to WPN for having a stab at it and doing something different to try create a niche but I think they will find it's a lot harder than it seems to run and monetize a training site unless you're willing to invest a lot to get started.

Seems strange to be completely removing the management team also as this means a lot of knowledge and relationships will be lost - unless they are able to bring someone in that has a vast experience.

GL to them anyway

No way...they are the best. From a theory standpoint. There lecture series are the best ever. Better than any book.

Yeah Pokermarket is new and seems to have a lot of potential. Good content for micro and mid-smallstakes.. Internet & other coaches are making a good job.

Re: What happened to Drag the Bar training site?

I think all publishing is currently going in the direct user to user publishing like amazon does for ebooks now, no intermediary that checks the content first or hires the authors.

Who buys subscriptions anyways when they can just buy the few videos they actually want?

I'm doing both right now doing vids on IveyLeagye and selling vids directly on PokerMarket, and will be interesting to see what ends up being more lucrative.

agree, really interesting move.

sounds good in theory: play @ poker site, get free training so you can make more money

Hope they market it well and it works out.

Yep, brilliant. Very good for ur own bottomline if -50bb losers getting turned into -10bb losers FOR FREE by teh site.

Should be fairly obv that teh only party benefitting of this is teh site and some recs while it inevitably hurts every regs bottom line in teh long run...

Some poasts in tis thread make me cringe...
kind rgds from teh TimStone
Honestly, this might have been the case 3-4 years ago but DC is just outclassed in every regard in the market now. Their recent lecture videos are sparse and the coaches are relatively poor.

Re: What happened to Drag the Bar training site?

All sites are terrible.. Even RIO.

You get 2-3 videos a month that arent made by currently losing players(and it's usually in PLO) that have a lot of poker-terminology knowledge to make themselves sound like winners.

I still remember the first nick howard video. Never been so much on tilt from watching videos. The guy couldn't even beat merge when it was 3 fish per table but he sure does know a lot of "impressive" poker math.

Iveyleagues has 3 videos of internet and a ton by a losing reg named Apo.

DC hasnt had a winner since 2008

Cardrunners has average/a bit above breakeven players from every limit, pretty bad for good winners but probably the only site of value for beginners. Most of them are winners because they moved to Bovada where a live fish that follows a hand chart can win up to 200nl.

RIO is filled with GTO wannabees talking crap about poker math when they still can't beat the micros long-term

so please let's not compare training sites, they are all terrible. They don't help the regs get better. All they do is help the fish get better and get the reg to play in such a way that they lower everyone's winrate including their own. This is why a lot of decent winners are called ****ty luckboxes. They play a good game that is aimed at making a lot of money instead of following fake GTO overaggro strategies that are aimed at making the regs pay more rake and win less bb/100 by not letting any fish play a single postflop hand.
