So many smart, talented people are attracted to poker It's too bad we never get to see everybody play together in some really high-profile event ...

too bad he can't legalize online poker with an executive signature or something..
Hey, that's worth looking into. It's a longshot but if a justice department attorney can shut down the majority of online poker, maybe the president of the United States could re-instate it if only for a few weeks. It would then make the Republicans look like the bad guys when they shut it down again. And there might even be a small chance Trump would let it stay if Obama was the one who re-instated it.

Maybe Negreanu or the Engineer can email Obama, it's a longshot but maybe worth a try.

Have seen so many updates of Sergio Garcia playing poker over the years - cool to turn on the tv and see a golf update
Is he in the middle of a playoff or something?

They had that whole streamer game where a selection of the absolute top content creators for young people played. A streamed game like that a few times a year and poker will continue to do very well (at least live). The game is innately attractive for competitive people, as long as its not seen as an old person activity (like for instance card games like bridge) it will keep being popular naturally.

Magnus Carlsen plays poker regularly both cash and tournaments (played EPT this year, would expect him to play the main coming up).

Surprising if he doesnt. He skipped the Chess WC this year to focus on things he enjoys. He very much enjoys poker so WSOP main should be high on his list. He has played a lot the last year. EPT, National Norwegian Main Event, streamed cash games etc.

Yeah, I woud think the fact that he doesn't have to almost continually concentrate like he does in chess would make poker an enjoyable side activity for him.
