Phil Laak Nonsense... Phil Laak Nonsense...

Does anyone remember the episode of either OG Poker After Dark or High Stakes Poker when Phil Laak goes on a wild rambling tangent about Parking Lots at Home Depot...

I have a bet with a friend that this clip exists... Please, for the love of God, somebody help me find this...

Man, Phil Laak has so many good moments.

A couple of my favourites are "Look at Timoshenko" and the Seiver AA hand.

Laak vs Antonio on Poker After Dark when they are yelling about the run out on top of the table is one of my favorite moments.

Gonna be incredibly hard to find one random incoherent rant from a guy that was probably on 200 poker shows, and went on 900 incoherent rants

Just madlibs for attention
It's like when you see a turkey and he's wearing rollerblades and trying to skate on grass, you're trying to get a King and a Jack through and it's hard because the turkey's friend is an ashtray that loves the color red... You know? It's genius!

I like your friends side of the bet.
I’ve seen all the televised poker from that era multiple times and don’t remember that line.
Even if it exists gonna be a ***** to find.
GL

I like the line where Laak starts rambling about taking a mans satchel during a hand. Vs Dario m I believe.

Laak was so weird but it seemed real and genuine as opposed to the many fakes of that era - you could play next to Humberto Brenes and not hear a word for 3 hours but then if a TV camera came by then all of the sudden he was the worlds greatest showman.

Last year I was playing in an LAPC event and Phil Laak sat down after late regging. Very quiet, sat down, headphones in, not chatting to anyone (not that I'm saying there's anything wrong with that or he should be talking to everyone and anyone, was just a little surprised). He literally didn't say a word for hours.

Anyway I open something like J7s in the CO and he calls SB and I triple off on like T52KA or something and he calls me down w 88. As he's raking in the pot I pluck up the courage and say "You know what Phil, you're not my hero any more!" and grin at him. He looks at me, nods, puts his headphones back in and stacks up the chips. Not a word, not a smile

He also had a show called "I Bet You" with him and Esfandiari. It's possible it was on there.

While we are on the topic of Laakism...Hoping Someone can help find the Poker After Dark episode where he admits “when I’m in a poker room, I can’t help but lie. Someone once asked me at the table if I was hungry, and I replied no, just for the sake of not telling the truth, even though I was actually hungry.” Or something along those lines.

Another Poker After Dark/HSP moment I’m looking for is when Phil Laak says “It‘s easier to win when you’re winning.” Such an underrated truism...couldn’t have said it any better.

Thank you in advance if you can help find these clips.

why dont we ever see Laak anymore? At least playing the smaller PokerGo games would be a great throwback. Cant his BAE just toss him a cranberry and send him back to the tables?

I disagree re Humberto. Definitely not a "fake" in any sense of the word. I played against him back in Costa Rica on numerous occasions.

Like many Tico poker players , Humberto was generally friendly. Poker games in Costa Rica were pretty social and had a lot of table talk. Humberto was not reticent at all.

( Sure, the "Shark" bit was made for TV schtick, but so what ? I once gave away 10 Humberto bobbleheads + a hammer as a drawing on my poker site. )
