Seems pretty clear the terms were violated by him participating.

I don't think it was rigged per se but he shouldn't have been in the contest or the rules should be modified. Why not let pokerstarsblog.com in if you are going to let him in?

My guess:
The bloggers from pokerstarsblog.com are actual employees of the company. Following the T&Cs, employees are not eligible.
The blogger that won is a content contributor, and probably not an "employee".

It would probably get pretty messy if they excluded anyone that has ever contributed content to anything that is owned/partially owned/sponsored by Pokerstars.

stake horse you must look at yourself and ask what kind of person would lose a contest and come whining about it in NVG.

I don;t care about him winning, I do care about you making a fuzz about it because I think there's nothing wrong with him winning.

I do think he's an employee. not 100% sure. he IS a moderator at PSO though.
I have not one thing bad to say about RR. always seems friendly and helpful to everyone.
and is doing good things w/ the win to boot. I congratulated him for this very reason.
however, if in fact the terms of the contest were breached I think PS or RSI, needs to rectify it, and stand behind THEIR rules.
PSO has lately been over the top sticklers about members following what the mods perceptions are of the forum rules. they claim "SPAM" is any disagreement members might have with any action taken by a mod.
it has truly gotten ridiculous how things are being allowed to run over there, so an employee winning a PS promo, while the rules say otherwise doesn't surprise me a bit.
sad but true...

The moderators @ PSO are paid for their work there, clearly making him an employee.

Webjoker- You're so far off base here, if you knew anything about me, I try to do what's right. I basically just enterred for the tickets. I didn't even care until I found out it was a paid mod @ PSO, and some members started talking.

Personal Statement

Hi guys,

Thank you to all who have posted good wishes for me. I'm not a regular poster here although it does seem a pretty cool forum.

Just by way of explanation, I am a volunteering mod on a forum and not a paid employee of RSI as indicated by the title of this thread.

Apparently, I was chosen as one of the two wildcard entries by the pokerstarsblog team. I have abided by the rules and have won this competition on merit.

I never thought in a million years I would win this and I will keep true to my word to donate half the prize to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin Ireland as I stated in my submission to the WBCOOP.

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think RSI employees are even allowed to have a PS account let alone play in any of the promotions. I see no need for me to comment further on the matter.

Regards,

Raiser

Let me get this straight, before I have to go copy and pasting, you don't get any $$ from PSO for being a mod?

heres a quote from a post from a mod
"It wasn't a lot of money, but enough for this stay......"

He clearly said he was paid and looks like he is not Mod no more, but if Team pro's are allowed to participate on this why not him as they are paid as well. He was not paid "Employee" tho cuz as the way he got offer to work and the way they sacked him doesn't make him employee.

Still related party!
Just a thought

Cliff Notes:
  • OP claims that winner of $5000 WBCOOP (World Blogger Championship of Online Poker) is an RSI employee
  • WBCOOP rules state that "Employees and relatives of employees of PokerStars and any entities affiliated or related to PokerStars are not permitted to participate in the Promotion"
  • Winner of Best Blog Award was a forum mod at PS site
  • Winning blogger posts ITT and states "Just by way of explanation, I am a volunteering mod on a forum and not a paid employee of RSI as indicated by the title of this thread"
  • OP posts link to forum post where mod posted "It wasn't a lot of money, but enough for this stay......"
  • Winning blogger/mod posted on PS on 12 Feb 2012 "A sad day indeed. Tonight I've been informed that my services are no longer desired here"
  • Zany antics rapidly ensue

Are these correct?

Hard to know someone from 11 posts.

But you did bust this case wide open.....

Its interesting that the whole story was found in less than 2 minutes of searching, you should be a detective op.

"Employee" does not mean what you think it means. It has a specific legal definition in this instance.

Edit:
And nobody cared even before the winner (I presume) posted ITT.

No, in short this information is not correct.

The original OP of this thread posted a link regarding a member called !!!111Dan, that is not me. My stars alias is royalraise85. This is not the first time I have seen him give out mis-information and he is giving me a hard time because I am a mod.

Let's keep this real guys, I am a stay at home dad who plays micro donk poker and spends a few hours a week helping guys out in a forum. Period

Raiser.

Thank you for correcting that.

I know you have been living this for awhile. This is new to us. We are trying to figure it out here.

As far as you can determine, what is he unhappy about? Was he an unsuccessful blogger in the contest?

Aren't you friends with that scammer who sold 150% of himself and won an EPT event? And I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that you also know the blogger in question here and are sticking up for a friend/colleague yet not disclosing that fact?

Ethics. How do they work?

i dont think stake was trying to be deceptive or trying to pass misinformation. he did say A mod not THE mod, and i think was just trying to demonsrate that mods are paid. i dont always agree w/ stake but never knew him to, right or wrong, do anything but stand up for what he felt was just, w/o ulterior motives or personal agendas. jus sayin

And of course this ended up being the case....congrats to the Contest winner.

Btw, saying someone is an employee and running around telling everyone someone is an employee, does in NO WAY make that person an Employee if he isn't actually employed by PS or any associated entity.

Thanks for posting TheRoyalRaiser. The prize money sounds like it couldn't have gone to a better person. Congrats!

OP has an issue with the WBCOOP winner, that's obvious.

Why you felt the need to play detective and run to NVG is sad.
