I've watched Isildur play online, and it is hard to see what the fuss is about, as for the last year online his graph shows he has made a $300K loss, (6-12 months ago he lost $700K, over the last 6 months won $400K, overall last year down $300K), with no wild swings to skew his results, just steadily going nowhere, so he just about matches his opponents overall, win one day, the next day lose it back, the same cycle for months on end.

I guess opponents know he does big bluffs, so now call him more than before, as calls of his all ins are 50% as it boils down with him is he either has it or not, so with less fold equity he now relies on his cards to actually stand up in a hand, and as he plays so many bad hands, he loses a lot of the time.

I think he may be like Hansen, chasing a buzz from winning with poor hands, but long term that is a very expensive way to play.

Out of interest, and a genuine question, what are people here learning from watching him play? For example, watching his triple draw, I have learned to raise pre-flop, then draw for three cards.

Isildur streaming on Unibet about a year ago was how I discovered the site (and now primarily play on). Score one for marketing.

Wat I was meaning was I saw him win $300K in a day recently... then the very next day saw him lose $300K, so just felt he is going round in circles, taking on players who cumulatively he has no edge over, and he doesn't seem to be getting better.

He used to rely on total aggression, but then opponents can just wait for him to do the betting for them, and call him with better hands, so it feels as though the game has caught up with him.

OK, to spell it out so clearly even I can understand the point I am making, Isildur hasn't had any live tournament cashes since May 2014, he shows a $60K loss in online tournaments since September 2013, he is down $300K on high stakes cash games over the last 12 months , so although he used to be very successful from his aggressive play, it is no longer effective, so odd that he is still seen by many as a successful player. What he did before was amazing, what he does now isn't.
