Now, when I see someone do that, I usually say "He has two pair with the board pair" or something similar. Normally I don't say anything, as I feel it is up to the player to be able to read their hand properly, but most people that have KQ on a K3938 board don't really consider their hand as two pair. WHat are oter people's opinions on this?

what he is doing is technically correct.
Stop whining. Rec player might not even know better.

people who don't know what any better?
if announcing your hand is clearly an angle, then anything short of turning your hand over is also an angle. we even have one guy in here claiming the victory flip is an angle. again, show your hand if you want to win a showdown. otherwise, you have given up your right to the pot.

I fail to see the problem with this.
If the boardruns out 669J6 and you hold AJ do you announce your hand as a boat, or a pair of jacks?

I put the chances that this guy has played higher than 1-3 in his life at 18%
Also, for the record, this is FOR SURE done more by guys who have played a LOT of poker and know exactly what they are doing, and not once have I seen someone I consider to be a winning player do it. Most noobs don't really consider their hand to be two pair there. Also, now 2+ years later, the vast majority of the time their pair is under top pair, as it was back then.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
I always show my hand at the same time Im saying it. Do people really say what they have and just leave their cards hidden??
BTW, I always say I have 2 pair in that situation, never thought of it as and angle... I think its pretty weird to say anything else. If the board reads 33387 and I have KK I dont say I have a pair, me got some house baby.

Not an angle. If you fold your bigger pair (which would make a bigger two pair) you deserve to lose.

Could be used as an angle, but it's not one.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
I've seen it as an annoying nit-roll many times. J9963 player bets, i call. they say "two pair" I fast roll AJ thinking i have the nuts, old man winter takes his sweet time turning over QQ.
I agree usually someone with the smaller pair or a small pocket pair blurts it out. By their intention it is clearly an angle, but they have no f clue its horrible poker etiquette.

Dont agree, i dont do it myself, but if you muck the best hand, you deserve to lose.
But i do find it annoying if people start talking like you describe, esp if they where not involved in the hand

Some people in my local casino do this aswell and its 100% an angle attempt as they only seem to do it to people who seen inexperienced or have been drinking, annoys me aswell
