You are right about one thing, if you don't include the suits when you state your hand, you're only stating it partially.
oh, OPTAH is OPTAH. No debating allowed on this one.

Wow, wrong twice in 2 sentences. Well done.
#1 On a board of KQ844 no flush, if you announce two pair, there are MANY different cards you can hold that affect the value of your hand. If you announce 8 of spades and 7 of hearts, you are giving no more information than by saying 87, or, just tabling your hand.
#2 Cards speak, sir. Is the dealer violating OPTAH when he pushes up the 3 cards that play with the tabled hand, or states the actual hand value? So yes, you're right, no debating on this one.
For the record, I at times state my hand while turning it over to expedite the game, which at a minimum is the exact opposite of what the 2 pair callout does. When I'm paying time, I'm all about keeping the game moving.

Yeah that is annoying, but what is also annoying is when people announce trips has a set.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
Just table your fkking hand when it`s on you to show. It`s tilting as fkk if player 1, who`s supposed to show first at showdown tries to wait it out until the other guy shows and player 1 can muck. Every time someone tries to do it vs me, I wont let him muck without showing on future hands either, even in situations where it`s clear that I have him beat.
And saying 2 pair is totally fine if you have 2 pair, if the other guy doesnt get it and folds the winner, it`s his fault. Just table the hand and let the dealer do his job...

It can probably be used as an angle but I wouldn't go so far as to say that it always is. In fact, I'd argue that it rarely is the intention.

LOL @ people saying this is standard because player is correctly announcing his hand strength. That's not even the issue in this situation at all. When it's time for showdown, you show the ****ing hand if you are obligated to show first. Dealers do an awful job handling this.

This is the nittiest bitch thread ever. It's not an angle, it's not annoying, it's nothing. Only someone who has only been playing live poker for a short time/is very young would even notice it imo. If the person turns up their cards right away, it doesnt' matter what they said If they slow roll it, then it's the slow roll that is the issue, not the "2 pair" thing.
I'll take the under on the age of the OP at 23.

Again, LOL_NVG.
Also, obv you don't play much live poker, as very few players just turn up their hand right away. Announcing before showing isn't slow rolling, either.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
So I'm sitting there with 2 cards in my hand and 5 on the table.
I'm asked "what have you got?"...and I've got two pair...so I say "2 pair"
WTF am I supposed to say except to describe my best 5 card hand correctly.
Whatever the other player wants to think or do is their business...I'm just describing my hand correctly.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
So, when I started playing poker, maybe a dozen or so years ago, this exact thing happened to me. My opponent bet the river, I called, he announced two pair, and I released my cards face down in front of me. At this point he tabled his cards, I realized my hand was best, and managed to retrieve my cards. Opponent acted like I was stealing his pot. It was maybe the thrid or fourth time I'd ever played poker, period.
This only had to happen to me once though.
Sometimes it's an angle, sometimes it's just someone being annoying.
