View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
This is seriously one of the more annoying things I have found in my transition to live poker. It goes to showdown, there is a pair on board, and the first person to show calls out "Two Pair" counting the board pair as his other pair. Sure, factually, he's correct, and not lying, but really, in pretty much every case I find that they are hoping their opponent only recognizes their hand as one pair and mucks, before realizing they actually had the better 2 pair hand. Now, when I see someone do that, I usually say "He has two pair with the board pair" or something similar. Normally I don't say anything, as I feel it is up to the player to be able to read their hand properly, but most people that have KQ on a K3938 board don't really consider their hand as two pair. WHat are oter people's opinions on this?

agreed, but if you're dumb enough to muck your cards before seeing the hand it's all on you. ive seen guys muck their hands at least 5 times on this in casinos. thats why when someone says it to me, my initial responce is always "which?" no matter what i have

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
I voted "kinda" because there MAY be an angle in there sometimes, but mostly it's just people saying what they have.
Since people can angle shoot by completely lying about what they have, you shouldn't be paying attention to what they are saying anyway, just read their hand yourself or open your cards every time anyway in case you are hallucinating something.
I mean, in live poker I have to be REALLY sure I lost if I'm going to muck without showing. In Omaha games I pretty much never muck at showdown.
The real question is whether Daliman (or anyone) has any business piping up if he thinks there's an angle shoot going on. I never do that, although I might intervene if the pot gets pushed the wrong way.

its stupid and annoying, but at the same time, its so completely routine that it should never catch anyone by surprise that isn't really dumb or is new.

Most of the time it's not an angle IMO, obviously there are people out there who do it and pretty much everything else as an angle.

Re: View: Saying "Two Pair" at showdown with a pair on board is an angle.
I got fooled by this the first time I played in a casino. I was pretty embarrassed about it at the time but I didn't and don't hold it against villain.
It's probably a shot at the pot a decent portion of the time, but likely more often it's innocent and either way it's a valuable (hopefully cheap) lesson to the victim.

I think correctly announcing your hand is clearly not an angle. If someone is too stupid to figure out that the pair on the board counts as one of the pairs, they deserve what they get.

I play in homegames and it doesn't happen there but I did get an epic slowroll before. Someone said 2 pair vs me at showdown and I flip over my straight and he shows me quads.

What hand would you ever have on a board like K3938 that beats KQ but throw away when he announces "two pair"...?
Just wondering

I play with people who say flush, trips, etc etc when they have 10 high to get you to muck.
