If Dell, Newegg and Overstock believe enough in Bitcoins why won't sites like Stars accept them as well? BTC has been proven for years to be a safe and effective way of transferring wealth.

I'm Canadian and depositing on sites since Skrill banned us is difficult, limiting and a hassle. However, if sites were to accept Bitcoins there's tons of ways of acquiring those with the numerous exchanges in place and easy banking.

Deposits are super important to the poker economy and adding just one more option can't possibly hurt. With companies like BitPay they can convert their BTC to USD right away if they don't want extra currency risk.

Sure, why not.

There are already a few BTC poker sites but it couldn't hurt to have the option. Whether it's worth the effort to implement from the major sites is another story but we won't know unless they try it

I am curious and never really thought about it until this thread.

If a person "deposits" with a currency other than the US dollar, does it become converted at current exchange rates by the poker site? The exchange i.e. Skrill, NetTeller etc.?

Bitcoin, although very steady the last several weeks, has flucuated ALOT. $70 to $1100 to $600 over 1 year.

Compared to the value of Lock Poker money, I'm very content with the fluctuation of Bitcoin.

Yes it gets converted.

Bitcoin volatility would be irrelevant since it would be converted anyway.

It's a no brainer for the sites to accept it. It 100% eliminates fraud/chargebacks against their site. For this reason alone they should give bonus money to anyone who deposits via BTC.

Volatility isn't an issue because they don't have to actually hold the BTC, they can insta convert it to a currency for 1% through a site like bitpay/coinbase. That is much less then the %'s they are paying CC companies.

It's super easy to implement. I'm guessing it won't be long until they all start accepting it.

All casino businesses are highly regulated.

Your deposit provides KYC which is part of the regulation.

So with bitcoin thie very hard link to a real ID due to the link to a CC or bank account is gone which might makes things difficult for the sites.

Of course for players and to make the whole process of depositing and withdraw easy bitcoin would be perfect.

There are some sites on I poker that accept it and it works like a charm.

I'd say that one big downside to them is the fact that they can be stolen or seized with impunity.

We knew exactly who took the FT money. A mid-level dev could clear out bitcoin on a site and there would be no way to know who had the money.

I'm in the US, can't play on the big sites but I definitely think they should accept them and it would be stupid to not.

Bitcoin creates a global currency for people all around the world.

People in places where they don't have access to Paypal or other options can trade their service for bitcoin.

The fact that people all around the world can change bitcoin to their own currency, opens the door for the people that just have access to bitcoins.

Little to no transaction fees = BONUS

It's "easy" to steal anything if anyone wants it enough. Companies being hacked or scamming users has nothing to do with bitcoin's technology.

Also, there's plenty of new businesses offering "vault"-type options to store bitcoins, like Coinbase: https://coinbase.com/vault

The ecosystem is growing every day and with this comes more security, more stability and more confidence in Bitcoin. The days of the kiddie companies in their basements is pretty much gone..

Why a site like bovada doesn't allow it just BLOWS my mind. Even if they didn't advertise it and only allowed people who emailed in specifically asking for it the ability to use it...that'd still be way better then what they're doing now.

How much money they blow trying to launder the money so they can send check cash outs to americans compared to the tiny amount of extra cost in customer support for bitcoin isn't even remotely comparable.

Seems like a great idea, and I'd assume Stars has discussed the option already.

They probably don't want to piss off more people, whom could actually harm them.
The people that launder the money for them

Saves the sites tons of transaction cost that could go back into the community.
