Ok, a lot of the above is missing most of the important points.

But so are you and you're also missing the following (or at least this is my understanding ... I could possibly be wrong as I have neer tried to enter Bobby's room):

Bobby's room isn't public. It doesn't take a list. There is no line.

If there were, then yea, probably there would be better players lining up waiting to play.

But it is a private game.

They won't let you in.

Theoretically, you can be a crap player, but if you have access to crazy private games, maybe you can be the winningest poker player in the world.

The games (there are three tables now) are definitely not private. Anybody can get on the interest list for any of the games.

And, you can simply walk in anytime. Though, there's an unofficial "don't enter unless you're genuinely interested in playing the games" rule.

Bobby's Room is the high stakes section at Bellagio. You can just walk in get on the list and buyin for whatever the minimum buyin for the game is. For the 2000/4000 mixed limit, maybe $40K is OK,and you might be about to buyin to 100/100 PLO8 for $10K or less. I am sure they would be really happy to see an unknown. However, I wouldn't advise doing that.

Bobby's room is not private. The only "private" game in Vegas is the JRB game, in which they basically create a fake long list so people can't get in. Have not heard of this happening at the B.

I'm pretty sure if you walk up to the brush outside Bobby's Room (and have the cash) and say I'd like to play Mr. Phil Ivey, you wouldn't have a problem getting in a game.

Ok, guess I was wrong. I thought they did the same thing with fake names on the list as that other game.

I don't know who plays there regularly.

"Circumstantially, his desperate cheating in the casinos with the dodgy cards, that would have got away with it until, ooh, at least the moment someone took a closer look at the cards, suggests his edge in proper poker has evaporated. "

Or one of two, as I recall. I haven't been there in a few years but I recall two different high-stakes rooms. One was Bobby's Room, of course. The other one was on the opposite end of the poker room. Kind of an enclosed space, slightly elevated from the main floor, which serves as a divider between the poker area and the sports book. (Note: we used it for the final few tables of the Five Diamond main event.)

But again, my intel could be old. Hell, the last time I was there, the Fontana Room was still in operation.

According to Bravo, there is no list for 2K/4K mixed, so I am sure you could play it.

My understanding is that Ivey and Dwan have been playing extremely high stakes cash games in the Orient (if you are allowed to call it that now). Notice he came back to play in Bobby's room, but not the WSOP. The WSOP events are too low stakes for the really balla. Doyle didn't play them for many years before the poker boom, and stopped playing them again, presumably partly because he doesn't have the endurance.

I've been living outside from the English speaking world for 15 years - is that seriously not ok now?

Orient just means "East" anyway. The place were talking about I call the "Far East" or "East Asia" but probably those are not allowed either by now.

Orient and far east are both quite dated terms. If you were to refer to people of Asian decent as Oriental many would consider it derogatory. East Asia is fine.

Right. "Far East" is too euro-centric then?

Applied to a person "oriental" was out of date even in my time.

Don't allow the SJWs to hammer their liberal propaganda down your throat.

Bobby's Room is open to the public but you have to have 20k minimum to sit down and play. Why would Bobby's room reject a fish? LOL.

The words Orient/Oriental aren't even on the SJW agenda... those terms are only still used by oooold heads who are way out of touch. I believe you can just say Asia nowadays rofl..

There's a reason why only "oooold heads" say it now. In the late 80's and early 90's we kids learned it was racist to say "oriental." We were taught that in middle school. Don't fool yourself.

He announced in an event in Beijing that he will be playing in 2018. If he puts a decent volume on the Super High Roller Circuit + play a full WSOP Schedule it will be interesting to see his results.

Interview starts at 00:51 : https://youtu.be/PyL1rJHarYw?t=51

ivey is the chip reese of today.. best cash game player, period

whoever said mixed is the next big thing is high on whatever negreanu smokes before he blogs. it isn't PLO either. PLO is too hard to not degen at. it's good for a quick gamble, but over the long run, people are probably better off playing NLHE.
