Re: View: mass table grinding ain't poker and should be banned

Ipoker was having software issues last week and they banned multi-tabling for the night which happened to be a Friday night (I think). Anyways, it was unbelievable how good the games were. It was like 2004 all over again. I agree the multi-tabling nits are killing the game but they generate too much profit for the poker sites to do anything about it.
I wish a poker room would come out with select tables in which multi-tabling was not allowed (Ipoker had the capabaility to ban it on all tables so I'm sure they could select specific tables and ban it just for them). I'd play there all day long.

There's already a site with a limit of 4 tables and they accept US players.

Impressive traffic uh.

I think an more interesting question is, what's the difference between playing at a table full of young 2+2 dorks who are 25 tabling, and playing against a bunch of sophisticated bots?

I mean, from a new players perspective, if they KNEW they were just playing against bots and they were losing, they would quit fairly quickly. If there is no experiential difference between playing bots and multi-tablers, why wouldnt they quit just as quickly?

op does raise some good points. 24 tablers can easily turn a juicy profitable game dead.
and i agree 24 tabling will not let a player improve. it hampers imagination.
for e.g chiren whose winrate is laughable. most of them make money through sites promotion and rakeback.
nanonoko is an exception. his winrate and aggression is commendable for the volume he plays.

I bet there was some old guy in the 1950's who wrote an article in Chess World about how speed chess is not chess.

You know, this happens. It's called video poker. People know that they lose money. There's nobody to talk to. Then again, they can't help it, they just want to gamble it up. Gambling's fun. Of course, it's also addicting, but it's not our problem some people lack the self control to be rational actors.

now, just to check to see if they are....DAMMIT!

OK, fine. call me a douchey hipster.
Crissakes, i'm 52.
4 tables is all I can put on my monitor tiled.
That's right, tiled.
Some of us play post-flop.
And try 4-tabling stud, stud/8, razz, TD, or badugi.
Especially TD or badugi.
Ur hand's not gonna be up 2 squeezin 1 off afterwards.

If they did cut back-
but they won't, as explained earlier-
to 10-12 tables max,
[to me, a reasonable#, even tho running cascaded causes head asplode 4 me]
a whole lot of the incentive for botters disappears.
As it stands now, the potential for a massive-mutitable hit-n-run bot posse pulling in 25K+ a night, disintegrating low-to-mid-stakes, exists. And we've already seen 1 site's attitude about it.

lol you're an idiot. Most 24tablers make money before the rake so empty seat > 24tabler. Obviously if the choice is solid reg or 24tabling nit you take the latter but a fish could be there as well.

How on earth can a 24 tabler turn a juicy profitable game into a dead one? By folding all the time and letting you play all the hands with the fish?

Are you kidding? The women at my local bingo hall play up to 8 books at a time, without the aid of a computerised HUD.

They've got no time to chat.

Bingo = Serious Business!
