I would like to see this, but with re-entry not allowed on the same day. It wouldn't add to the time of the event much at all, especially since the numbers are going to decline for a while. Allowing same day reentries would mess with the flow however. As long as there are multiple day 1's I don't see any issue.
People who talk about history and tradition are silly. The first events were a disgrace to poker, as were many of the later years with deals and other unsavoury things occurring. Making it more likely for good players to succeed and bad players not caring is a great thing imo. It might avoid the most boring tournament ever scenario like 2012.
Upping the buy-in will have to happen someday, but not in this economy. $10k is a lot, making it higher would be like making Open qualifying $3000. It keeps people away when it should be inclusive to every player who has theoretically enough game. Anyone with £80, a 2 handicap or better in the open qualifiers, and anyone who has $100 to win a satellite in the main.
