Re: View: How Will Oboma's Win And The Demacratic Congress Affect The Landscape Of Po

Poker Pros have some serious cash at their disposal. Cash is king in DC. Poker wealth moves up from the bottom of the pyramid to the top, the smaller the bottom, the less available at the top. Ergo, poker pros need to be convinced that it is +EV to spend some $$$ lobbying.

A president who openly enjoys poker, a Dem majority, a friend in Frank, a need for tax revenue, and a public who has shown that despite wanting larger government in the sense of government funded social programs, are tired of the gov't regulating their private lives (view all the pro-marijuana legislation that just passed, the antiabortion initiatives that got roundly defeated, etc) represents a good chance for at least decriminalization, if not a regulate and tax proposal.

But it's gonna take a lot more than the funds that are currently available to grease those wheels. As everyone said, it's not a top priority, but stuff gets passed in DC all the time that's not a top priority.

Wow surprised you could stay off Al Franken's teat long enough to make this post. It's family and community who need to help those unable to physically help themselves, not government.

And Obama win means nada to online poker.

Obama Positions Himself to Quickly Reverse Bush Actions on Environmental, Social Issues

By Ceci Connolly and R. Jeffrey Smith
Washington Post Staff Writers
Sunday, November 9, 2008

Transition advisers to President-elect Barack Obama have compiled a list of about 200 Bush administration actions and executive orders that could be swiftly undone to reverse the president on climate change, stem cell research, reproductive rights and other issues, according to congressional Democrats, campaign aides and experts working with the transition team.

A team of four dozen advisers, working for months in virtual solitude, set out to identify regulatory and policy changes Obama could implement soon after his inauguration. The team is now consulting with liberal advocacy groups, Capitol Hill staffers and potential agency chiefs to prioritize those they regard as the most onerous or ideologically offensive, said a top transition official who was not permitted to speak on the record about the inner workings of the transition.

(Now despite the fact that Obama can't just click his heels and make UIGEA away - as much as Bush thought the executive branch had dictatorial power - this is a good sign. Especially in that they are especially examining laws/regulations that were passed for "overtly political" reasons - which clearly UIGEA was just a pander to the socially conservative repub wing)

Obama is a very serious guy...
And will not make gaming regulations a priority.

I guarantee you he does not have time to play poker.
He works out for 45 minutes 5 times a week...
And says the workout time comes out of sleep time.

Meanwhile, the Republicans have 10 more weeks...
To keep beating on the dead corpse of online gaming.

Unfortunately, legislating morals IS a top priority of the religious right.

Good thing Palin isn't in the White House.

Do they really have a shot of putting UIGEA into place before Obama gets into office? I saw a story on Politico, but only brushed by it and noticed that some Bush aide wants to push it through ASAP....

Then I saw this earlier this evening:

William Wichterman Pushing For UIGEA

*edit* Just saw a similar posted above, my bad....either way....

As long as things don't get worse, as they may have under McCain-Palin, I'm happy.
