I think the biggest issue here has to do with advertising. I've run across quite a few people who think that ever since Party pulled out, you can't play online for real money any more. All they see now are those stupid ".net" commercials, and they just assume online poker is dead. I doubt the Obama Justice Department would spend any time going after TV stations for airing online gambling advertisements.

Even if nothing else changes, the fact that we will likely see a return of "Gamble online and you could win a million dollars!!!!!" type TV commercials will be big.

IMO, the biggest thing that hurt the online poker boom was when the Bush Justice Department started actively going after TV stations that ran ads for online gambling. There are tons of potential fish out there that don't know you can still play poker online for money.

I agree with you in that I don't really think any huge beneficial legislative initiative is going to happen any time soon. But, I think a Justice Department that pretty much won't bother doing any kind of anti-online gambling enforcement is HUGE. Neteller might well be back as soon as they determine that no one will come after them. It really doesn't matter what the law says if the "cops" don't bother arresting anyone for breaking it.

Nada. In case you haven't noticed the U.S. economy is on the verge on the next Great Depression. Corporations are laying off 10-15% of their workforces. The overall unemployment rate will approach 10% by the end of next year. You think Obama gives a **** about you playing poker on the Internet
