View - Coaching sites are a rip off

Ok, so I was given membership to DeucesCracked some time ago by one of my affiliates. I have also in the past used the free Bluefire membership for one week. I can honestly say that these sites are a rip off and a waste of money.

Many of the "instructors" are poor players, this is often proven by looking at their recent results on a tracking site. My stats are better than most lower stakes commentators. Yet here they are teaching me how to play poker. I would even suggest in many cases these guys teach bad habbits.
This leads to another problem, these so called poker pros are "teaching" people how to play poker. They are "teaching" the opposition how to win. Anyone who sees just how silly this is would quickly realise it is too good to be true. This situation cannot exist, unless these "pros" realise its the best way for them to make money, in which case this very fact proves they are not very good at poker.
Another problem is that most of them commentators are very hard to listen to. Its very difficult to listen to some guy who can barely string a sentence together without say em or errrr 10 times per sentence.
Now, although I found most of the videos useless, some of them are very interesting to watch, I particularly like Phil Galfonds videos. But he is playing very high stakes, not catering for most of his viewers and the small amount of useful videos hardly warrent the big subscriptions fees. This is another big problem, although there may be some good content, it is hidden amongst an aweful lot of bad content.

I would suggest any new player who is thinking about getting one of these subscriptions to hold off and instead read a good poker and teach yourself how to play, you will get so much more out of it.

You really should explain why that has any relevance.

Ive never seen any of those sites' vids but the site I did subscribe to had a lot of valuable content. Sounds like those sites just suck.

Jack0, are you trying to compete with Pokerfun666 as the worst poster on the internet?

If so, you're doing it right.

seeing as how a subscription is only 2-4 buy ins for most micro players, as long as you put the time and effort into bettering your game through those videos I think they are massively +EV

Can I make a suggestion to all those posting silly one line responses.

If you dont want to participate in discussion please dont post. By all means if you do find coaching sites very useful, please point out why and what you have learned from them.

? Training sites are the main reason why I was able to play for a living. And also regarding tracking sites, if you looked at mine it'd be about 10% accurate.

Re: View - Coaching sites are a rip off

the videos are definitely helpful for beginners who have a lot of leaks. if you are better than the people making the videos, then why are you bitching in the first place? thats a great situation for you. if you really are better than the instructors, shouldnt you be encouraging people to watch their videos? more money for you. obviously the instructors aren't the best players in the world but they know what theyre doing and theyre winning players so its definitely worth it for a beginner to pay for it.
