Well hopefully Cali steps up and we create our own laws on the west coast. Or am I just smoking to much?

Not yet, but considering the Harper govt was thinking about implementing their own version of the UIGEA a while ago, this might just be the incentive they needed to go forward with it.

Not to politard this point...but the UIGEA was 2006, when Republicans still had control.

And the fact it was in a "Safe Ports Act"...who is going to vote against that?

Criminal imo

If you depend a lot on US casual players donating to you, then yes. They won't be able to deposit afaik and you'll be playing regs everyday.

Re: UIGEA Is Final

Before you guys declare Fire and Brimstone... you should read it. It actually doesn't look that bad. Specfically, cross border transactions. They basically are saying, "ionno how we gonna regulate those..." and they've said that a gambler receiving payment is not illegal (which we already knew).

Quote:
Commenters objected to the cross-border examples in the proposed rule on numerous grounds.87 Some commenters stated that including a term in agreements with foreign banks regarding restricted transactions was not practicable because it was unrealistic to expect foreign institutions to be willing or able to make specific representations with respect to restricted transactions, given the uncertain definition of "unlawful Internet gambling."88 In addition, commenters noted that the foreign correspondent with which the U.S. participant has a contractual relationship may itself be a correspondent several steps removed from the institution that has the customer relationship with the Internet gambling business and that it would be unrealistic to expect a provision in the cross-border agreement would be able to prevent restricted transactions.89 Commenters suggested that cross-border transactions conducted through correspondent relationships be entirely exempt from the regulation, or that notice to customers that the relevant payment system may not be used to engage in restricted transactions should be deemed a reasonably designed policy and procedure.90
The comment letters illustrated many of the challenges in identifying and preventing particular types of transactions in the modern, global payment system. The Agencies agree that, with the complex framework of gambling laws in the United States, institutions in other countries will not reasonably be able to determine which transactions are unlawful under applicable U.S. law. Moreover, given the numerous intermediaries involved with a typical cross-border payment transaction, there will likely be many cases where the foreign correspondent from which a U.S. participant receives a cross-border debit transaction does not have a customer relationship with the Internet gambling business.

lol everything the republicans have done over 8 years can be pinned on the 2 years of democrats having a tiny advantage in congress, right?

they must have bullied those poooor republicans into passing the UIGEA.. and then sneaking it into law...
