Status Update on NioNio Investigation
July 8, 2008 -

UltimateBet’s continuing investigation has confirmed that other usernames, in addition to those previously identified on this site, were associated with the cheating scandal.

The additional usernames include: Crackcorn55, GrabBag123, gravitation, Bgroup, H_Curtis, Twenty 1, WacoManiac, Broke_In_L_A, ShaqTack, BlueBerry101, 55WasHere, Xnomas, dannyboy55, Indy05. The same perpetrators we had previously identified controlled all of these usernames; there are no new perpetrators involved, only new usernames.

We have also confirmed that the cheating dates back further then we initially believed. We can now confirm that the cheating began in January 2005, long before Tokwiro Enterprises ENRG acquired UltimateBet from the previous ownership.

Tokwiro regrets that we did not discover this scheme during our due diligence when we purchased UltimateBet in October 2006, and that we did not identify the fraudulent activity until this recent investigation. We remain committed to our players, and to resolving this problem completely. We will start refunding players for any net losses in hands played with the usernames listed above once we complete our investigation.

Tokwiro considers itself to have been a victim of this fraud and we are continuing to explore our legal options. As part of this effort, we are compiling all of the information we have gathered in regard to the perpetrators and their activities, for possible use in any legal action.

We will continue to provide updates on our investigation, as we are still looking at a few accounts. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the poker community for their invaluable contributions to this investigation and remind them that we remain committed to fully examining any claims of fraud that we receive.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this investigation, please contact us at pokersecurity@ultimatebet.com

wow in the annie duke thread, there is some data showing -Fred- transferring 10k to ShaqTack, according to this data, this account was closed on Feb 7th 2008 for FRAUD and was able to change his user name (Broke_In_L_A_, slimpikins2, whakme, HolyMucker). Why wouldnt the last two names be on the list too? maybe they missed some. He started the account Dec 20th, 2005 and the name he used was Dan Francis from Franklin Arkansas)

Re: UB's newest statement: More superusers

Seems pretty convenient that since they consider themselves victims they will not divulge any names or details regarding the perpetrators. Sounds like you guys are getting more of your money back though, good deal.

This whole thing is hilarious.

The only reason it doesn't kill online poker is because the majority of people in this country are morons.

Like, say, people that think it's okay for poker sites to have 24/7 access to your computer usage for "market research and cheating"

Re: UB's newest statement: More superusers

Oh man, this is epic to me because I still think pretty often about this sick hand involving Broke_In_L_A on UB where he checked on the river, his opponent bet pot, for like 75% or 80% of his stack, and he checkraised all-in, and his opponent folded, then Broke_In_L_A showed a total bluff with like 9 high. I have thought about that hand a lot and what a crazy play it was, and how I should try making some crazy no fold equity bluffs... now I know the trick, he was just a superuser, hilarious.

Re: UB's newest statement: More superusers

Rough quote from CTS:

Quote:
"It's happened many times on UB where I sit down with some random 90/60 heads-up at the nosebleed stakes, they rape me for 10 buy-ins then I never see them again"
I think CTS has to be the person that can expect the biggest refunds here, can't wait to see how much they stole from him, hope he makes the number public like he did last time

I would say good work to the new UB ownership, they're being really really great about this whole thing

Re: UB's newest statement: More superusers

Oh, well lets all just cheer these lying, cheating sad-sacks for owning up. They've given some money back, and they've said they're sorry, so let's all just cut them slack and let them off.

After all, being all negative on UB is bad for online poker. We all just need to ease up, so the fish don't catch on that online poker is fraught with perils they can't foresee, from superusers, to bots, to collusion.
