He would literally never stall on 1000 calories. He would eventually get thin and then a while after that die of starvation if he kept it up indefinitely. Human metabolism adjusts, yes, but not to an extreme degree. I think the best, and wisest, approach is hiring a good coach (for both brothers) who is in tune with their very specific goal and knows how to work with both the obese and the thin. Seems like Jaime is working on that option. Preferrably they make that happen sooner than later.

The 1kcal discussion is moot imo, as first and foremost he'd need Spartan like discipline to do it, and no offence to the guy but one look at him suggests he does not have Spartan like discipline.

What does he do then? Lower calories again? Cool story bro.
How the hell would he plateau with 1000 kcal diet? Are you saying his body will only start using 1000 kcal per day?

This...seeing his latest blog, 3 half push-ups and a wall sit for 45s, several times a time totaling 20 mins is not "circuits". While the brother eats extra portion of fries.

I know he is a big guy but seems like he needs a proper programme ASAP with somebody there every day to push him above and beyond that. However, I have a feeling from the people he says he has tried to contact that he is going to go the route of a online coach.

Also, he said though he is moving yet again in 20 days. Not really ideal to get started on a really disciplined routine. If you aren't careful thats a month of the challenge already gone without getting a professional coming every day to kick your ass into shape while also getting your meal plan nailed down.

Whenever you're in a caloric deficit for a long time, your body thinks it's starving so it begins to shut down...your metabolism slows down as well as hormone production (test, leptin etc.) as it hits survival mode. This will happen in any caloric deficit but on severe poverty macros it will happen quicker and the knock on effects are more severe. In this state your fat loss will flatline. It's why cheat days are actually beneficial in a diet long term. Your body needs more than 1000cals a day. Jaime's BMR is much higher than that and will be like that for a long time.

"Survival/starvation mode" is not nearly as extreme as you are portraying it here. The only way he plateaus with 1000 kcal diet is that he dies from starvation while weighing 70 lbs or something.

LMFAO @ his 3 bad form half push ups , aww poor Jaime here have a donut you deserved it .

Didn't know he was religious , aren't you supposed to do that @ your bedside instead of on top of your bed ?

Wtf if you even put those 3 'pushups' together they don't make a single whole pushup. Long journey ahead. So long.

The pushups were funny yea but basically irrelevant What's important is his food intake, not his training. It's not a fitness bet, it's a weight bet.

Has anyone been following little Staples streaming? Is he mowing down cake 24/7 on stream? I hope he is

We all have to start somewhere when it comes to workouts like pushups. With some consistency, the form will improve.

It takes a caloric deficit of 350,000 to shed 100 lbs. That would be close to 1000 calories per day for a year of stored energy. Good luck Jamie.

I don't know if anyone here has any influence on the brothers but if you do, tell them to get a ****ing coach (a coach as in one, not two) from the ****ing online science based natural bodybuilding community. It's the solution to the entire thing. Legit. Sad to see them go through this thing flapping their arms in the dark. Oh well.

Here, GTO solution to weight bet: Contact any of the below:
-Menno Henselmans
-Chris Elkins
-3DMJ team
-Paul Revelia
-Lambda Physiques
-Cliff Wilson

Or if you want to shell out extra $$$ just get Layne Norton, Alan Aragon, or Lyle McDonald. lol. But I'd honestly probably recommend the above names over them due to availability etc

These are just names I could think of off the top of my head. Be very clear and explicit about what the bet is about and what you want to do, etc. Any of the above will help makes this so much easier.

Why waste so much money on a professional when 95% of daily readers of bb.com could do just as good of a job.
Most guys that are really into bb'ing know a lot nowadays and offer advices for free.

Meh, I have 20k+ posts on bb.com and have been a member for over a decade. I'd still definitely hire one of the above for this. It's not much money either, a pretty normal rate is $125ish a month or so. The social media exposure might be added incentive for some of the above too (well, half of them actually have a lot larger social media followings than Staples so maybe not)

Btw to add to that post of mine: Just contact multiple ones and see whom you get the best reply from I guess.

I'm done spamming this about coaches now lol Can't force 'em

If you can get Layne for less than 200$ a month, then they should have done it already.

Also should maybe look into a trip back to elementary school to learn about calorie intake and basic arithmetic's.

It's "arithmetics" - not "arithmetic's"

im gonna guess that you are jaime's second account if you get mad at me suggesting jaime needs schooling, so yes you are a lot heavier than me

i don't fight with my auto correct, it always wins even if its wrong.

The last couple of posts of mine in this thread have been about suggesting Jaime gets a coach since he apparently does not have very good knowledge himself, so we're actually somewhat on the same page here. The difference is that you suggest that he learns what he needs himself while I think it's better and more worth his time to outsource the task to someone else. It's just that I'm trying to be nice and you're for no apparent reason being a **** to me for it.

edit: I'm not even going to bother pointing out the new apostrophe-related mistake you made in this above reply, but it does all in all strike me like you're the one who apparently needs to take a trip back to elementary school.

See? Two can play this game.
