Excuse my ignorance but what's the merit of using VPN while playing?

1. Playing from home instead of traveling abroad.

2. playing on a fake account (what Brian Hastings did so nobody knew it was him)

Just checked my old email account and I got an FTP email accidentally sent to me from Howard Lederer. It states that he should've gone with Jimmy Fricke as Tom Dwayne was actually a bigger freak and very weird dude instead.

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with using a VPN because the US Govt had it out for online gambling. As long as the players were playing under their own accounts (not pulling a Hastings), I see nothing morally wrong with it. What's the difference, morally, if the person is playing from Seattle or Vancouver? They're certainly taking a risk personally at having their funds seized by Pokerstars for TOC violation, but come on, there's no moral equivalence here to scamming someone out of a million bucks.

Especially when you insinuate it's on the same level as dwans million Multi million $$$ scam vs jungle + potentially one vs haralabob for 7 figs? Multi - accounting is a diff story obv but if there's no proof + it's their normal accounts and they just don't want to travel you have to be a huge nerd to make a big deal over that, it's their own risk to take on if stars finds out and takes their $$$/bans them.


Also fwiw it seems like most of dougs crew stays in the same vancouver building / diff apts when he goes there for scoop to play on stars as evidenced by his past streams with people popping

Confirm VPN stable. In fact one stable I was very familiar with backed WCG maybe 5 years ago for at least one maybe a few things. They also had a lot of VPN players on Stars but none of them to my knowledge were super crushers or played high stakes.

I don't like their whole crews sanctimonious rants about poker ethics all the time, but I don't see how encouraging VPNing makes him a hypocrite. Who does it harm? Also the volume thing, it's his money he cant end the deal when he wants?

yes obviously everyone understands why them VPNing makes games harder for ROW players, to me that doesn't make VPNing even close to "scummy, just because it doesn't work out well for ROW players doesn't make them victims of some egregious cheating behavior.
