To be clear, we are not sure of that. There's been a lot of speculation and innuendo. But there's no clear indication that it's true.
I happen to think that Dwan must be in a bad spot. That last video is not a good look. That's not a boy in a good place in life.
If I were to speculate on how it happened, it's probably poker and his playing style. The funny thing about money is that someone
always has more money than you. Some people have so much money that it literally doesn't matter to them, period. And if you want to find these people, Macau is a pretty darn good place to start . . .
Some degree of Dwan's strategy and approach is based on his ability to leverage his stack against you or your own fears/love/doubt/etc of money to the test. So what happens when that strategy goes up against someone that you can't "scare" into losing? The answer is that
you end up losing. Playing for those high stakes against people who can buy you and your family (and the next three generations of your family!) ten-times over is a really good way to put your entire roll at risk, no matter how big or small that roll may be.
