Jim, I fairly sure Desert Cat plays some fairly large mixed games at Casino Az (Scottsdale), unfortunately there is no No Limit in AZ so you guys could settle this bet up in Vegas maybe.

The first one seemed like poor etiquette until he said "I'm looking." Then he basically reveals his character with the rest of his charades.

His approach to the game is to win with spoken mind games, which is radically frowned upon away from the game of poker...which makes me think people should be less lenient on allowing it to exist in their games.

The problem is this guy would never play in a game he can't be "himself" in, and he appears to be a big losing player, and not particularly clever.

If he had any semblance of skill and was doing this, I would be happy to have him banned from all casinos.

if that's not an angle the term angle-shooting must be obsolete

Can't stop laughing at this guys site. Thought it was a joke at first.

Carroll is a dick, but you'd have to be an idiot to believe some random idiot at the poker table when he claims he hasn't looked at his cards. I don't consider it angle shooting to say "I haven't looked" when you obviously have looked. Just dumb.

"The moral of the story is this: It's not all about me. It's not all about you. God has plans for every player at the table. And it's okay to take a beating for the team. The loss only hurt for a while; but this amazing bad beat story will be told for eternity in heaven. "

So even in heaven you have to listen to those idiots sharing their bad beat stories?

And of course it's an angle shot. People who can't win at poker use those (and some add prayers too)

Watch at 23:15 and 31:30 for examples.
You know you´re a terrible liar if Phil Hellmuth calls you out for "randomly" having super strong "blind hands" like all the time (see 26:30)

The whole shtick on the river in the first hand is just brutal to watch. I mean, who falls for this crap?

As for hand 2, it seems like Philipps figured out what´s going on, too ("I´m running so bad against your blinds" 33:48)

I´ve only watched like 15 minutes of this episode and I get the strong feeling that the game is built around him. What´s the point of calling him out? He´s the mark so pretty much everything is fair game if he´s the one who´s doing it.

Mistakenly picks up his ante? Looks innocent enough...good thing the poker cop is in attendance.

He actually picked up Todd Brunson´s small blind at 32:30 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_5N8MGWBJrg

As for Carroll being the mark, Hellmuth is spewing like a champ, Dennis Philips is a limp-call-OOP-every-other-hand-type of joke, random pro folds AhKh to a 3-bet, Todd Brunson is Todd Brunson, so I guess it´s really, really tough to be the mark on this table.

Correct TB's SB.....which TB pushed a second time directly in front of the button. Carroll calls PH bet and mistakenly scoops back "his" blind...without much thought. Seems even more innocent now upon second look and eval.

If you watch the clip, you will notice that Brunson pushed the chip in front of me just before the cards came out. Why??? I'm assuming I thought it was my small blind. Why would I try to steal a green chip?

I was for sure the local MARK. I'm from seven seasons of reality TV (Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars.) I know what the producers want. I know how to create DRAMA. My purpose on the show was to stir things up and entertain. Why would I throw baby bottles, pacifiers and diapers at Phil? Does anyone think I would seriously want to offend a player that is hundreds of times better than me? Phil knew exactly what I was doing and why.

I played almost every hand in an attempt to create some action or tilt someone. I played the Blind Donkey hands for entertainment. Everyone at the table knew I looked at my first card. They played along with it. We talked about it during the break. Those guys are pros, not idiots.

The poker industry needs more people that are willing to entertain and not sit quietly at a table and bore the audience. Some guys only care about how good they look to other players. Their egos can't take the hit for the sake of entertainment.

We need to increase the number of poker players by making it look easy and fun on TV. Isn't that how the poker revolution started? The poker community is small and these TV shows need audiences that are outside of our limited group. Audiences are attracted to more than just watching a card game. Why do you think I brought all those props?

I don't mind losing a little money for the purpose of promoting Poker Nights. You may disagree with my ways, but I want Poker Nights ratings to grow. I want them to succeed. They were kind enough to invite me to be on the show. I did the best I could to play my role. I've already caused a little controversy here.

I'll be on the next season with them too. Let's work as a team to promote Poker Nights.

lol...is this why you do the same thing at every live table that isn't on tv?

This is a pretty bad angle, slightly less scummy than, say, agreeing to check it down then betting.

From Jim Carrol's website"

"I'm not good enough to beat the pros, yet I win tournaments. It's real simple. When God favors me, I can't be stopped. When he favors someone else, there is no way I can beat them."

What a nut.

Pretty disappointing how many people itt defend/justify this angle. Its def scummy and I think less of anyone who thinks its ok. Makes sense though that those who cant beat the game fairly anymore have to rely on tricks like this to make money. Lol pathetic
