Seriously, of course there are going to be fewer prominent players in total because of our population, but I haven't noticed UK players being especially awful online or brilliant either, meh.

Versus the US, Asia and Russia? I think there are one or two players in Germany too, I'd be interested in the source of the info that says we're the second largest.

Considering how many people play poker in the UK we do pretty much suck at having peopl who can crush nosebleed stakes. There are a few big winners at $5k nl and some really good omaha players (chufty, dafool, grundy) but really compared to the Scandanavian nations and Finland which collectively dont even have as large a population as the UK, we ****ing suck.

Who knows why. Pretty difficult to explain really.

OK, seriously, Gary Jones is a good call and Chufty plays very high online, mostly Omaha though. A lot of the really good players though, Ben Roberts for example, I just don't think they play online. There's still a culture where a lot of people won't play online. It's short-sighted IMO. Digressing slightly to tournaments, because I know what I'm talking about a bit more there, for sure some of the younger players grind online, but remarkably few all things considered. I mean I play like 12 hours a week and I'm comfortably top ten UK on P5's. And don't start me off on the "tournament faces" ... lol even the ones who are +EV, most of these guys' yearly expectation is less than what Chris Moorman makes in a month.

Im from England and I play profitably up to 25/50. I agree most British players suck and we should probably like to keep it that way.

Its obvious, the UK has a population of over 60 million and poker is as popular in the UK as anywhere bar the USA.

The scandanavian countries have tiny populations. Poker is small in Russia and what Asian countries even play poker?

If you think UK players are bad online, you should try the live games. I was told the Vic is meant to have one of the toughest cash games in the world, but every time I go there almost everyone is horrible.

There are a fair amount of day in day out high stakes regulars from the UK though, the_mole (10/20+ euro) on boss media network. JoeyLove (10/20+) on crypto and klorinho (10/20+) on ipoker.

Mafews is probably the best high stakes UK player i've played.
