Is Iceman a winning player? He seems like a tight knowledgeable player but I don't know.

would you be a winning player if you raised AKs and folded to shortstack's 20bb jam? how about opening KK and folding to a wild drunk's 100bb shove?

yes I have physically seen him make these plays.

Hes not going to be a cg winner the way he plays doltmode. He likely is just trying to sustain to stay in the scene for tournament stakes and random sponsorship deals.

7. Teddy Monroe: The Iceman, a cash game grinder for nearly three decades, told Card Player, “If I go up early in a session I try to play much tighter. I know how easy it is to get trapped, and right now money means a lot. There is a serious recession in the nation right now, and if you have to be disciplined to avoid the tough swings. I’ve been in the game a long time, and I’ve truly developed patience for grinding day in and day out. For example, if I have pocket aces at $2-$5 and I make it $45. If somebody who has $400 on the table goes all in, I will throw my hand away and quit the game. I would be frustrated that I threw away the aces, as I didn’t get a chance to see the flop. Basically I minimize my potential losses. I don’t have huge swings anymore.”

It’s ultra-conservative to even consider folding aces preflop in hold’em, but Monroe has been surviving in the game for longer than most.

Great find!!! I was thinking about this quote when I was reading the would he fold KK vs a drunk and AK with 20 blinds left chatter.

He plays like he went back in time and is playing NL Holdem in 1974

In his mind he's trying to be Phil Ivey... in reality he's bad and dumping his earnings from jewelry to the poker community.

i dont believe this

no one plays 2/5 and folds aces to a less than one buy in shove.. how the hell can he play 2/5 and consider 400 is a huge swing?

I may drive up to Vegas and play some O8 at the V. Def going to look out for him. If I see him I will say hi and ask him to freeze me.

I guess he has a 400 dollar bankroll. I still don't get folding AA a 5 to 1 favorite versus any pair and totally dominating an ace and face....
