re: Tebow to play Charity event? Apparent dishonest tweets marketing charity tournament

I've seen a bit about this, seems shady. Friedberg said something about NFL players not being allowed to gamble, the chick promoting it kinda came out of nowhere, somebody said something about her being phony. The Colorado State Poker Championships traditionally weren't this thing, some weird charity something or another? I dunno. I've never heard of this chick and have spent a lot of time in Colorado card rooms.

Cliffs: Proceed with caution.

Edit: Tweet I believe Gav RT'd from 4h ago:

Amy Sandoval @BigMoneyPoker
@olegsmith Plz RT to show your support tebow playing poker for @AmericanCancer charity before the coloradopokerchampionship.com main event!

I got this one Dec 12
Amy Sandoval @BigMoneyPoker
@devopoker Plz RT 20X to be entered in a home game with broncos cheerleaders proceeding the $200,000 coloradopokerchampionship.com main event

I got another sometime talking about Tebow, I replied that I'd be happy to do a last longer with him where the loser pays charity, no response other than a blurb from the poker room itself inquiring with some other dude.

Amy Sandoval Poker returns nothing

She asked Jess Welman to DM her if she's bi on NYE.

Amy Sandoval doesn't show up on Hendon Mob.

And this is what Friedberg said:

Jon Friedberg @JonFriedberg 31 Dec
@BigMoneyPoker are you sure Tebow is playing? I thought there was a strict rule against NFL players participating in any poker events

Jon Friedberg @JonFriedberg 1 Jan
Account @BigMoneyPoker is fraudulently promoting Tebow in an upcoming alleged charity event in CO, and obv posing as a female.

Kevin Mathers @Kevmath 1 Jan
@JonFriedberg it's at least the 2nd acct trying to "promote" a "charity" poker event in Colorado

Stacey Lynn @lasvegaspokers 1 Jan
@Kevmath @JonFriedberg @MsPokerMafia there does appear to be an actual Col state poker championship but I don't see any charity event listed

Jon Friedberg @JonFriedberg Close
@lasvegaspokers @Kevmath @MsPokerMafia @MicheleLewis I just hope the casino isn't behind this in trying to promote their event. Shady

Jon Friedberg @JonFriedberg 1 Jan
@MsPokerMafia yes 100% fraud. I don't know whether the tourney is real, but NFL players cannot participate in any poker or gambling

Make that extreme caution. As Chainsaw will eventually attest to, there was a previous twitter account claiming broncos cheerleaders were playing a charity event that was to be held during the Colorado poker championships. That acct was eventually suspended and a new one popped up.

I'm assuming Friedberg's comment stems from the March event at the Golden Nugget:

Wasn't the NFL for UIGEA?

If I'm remembering correctly they were.

The NFL successfully lobbied for a Fantasy Sports carve out in the UIGEA, rather than doing what poker did, unsuccessfully lobby to block any legislation on internet gambling.

I played poker with Tim once. He went to throw a bet out, but missed the table...

PS - the table was wide open.

re: Tebow to play Charity event? Apparent dishonest tweets marketing charity tournament

After the Braylon Edwards drunk driving incident the NFL banned its players from playing in charity poker events. Pretty sure that if any player were to break this rule it would NOT be Tim Tebow.

Case closed.

She's just lying I have been calling her out on twitter. There is a 0% chance of Tebow playing a poker event no matter what the charity is.

So the whole thing is a twitter fraud to try to drum up some business for this charity event?

I agree that Tebow playing poker, especially if it's against NFL rules, seems ludicrous.

Not even sure what this chick's gameplan is but she's been lying about this for weeks on twitter, ever since Tebow became one of the biggest stories in the USA.
