Although the site is in German, the table at the bottom of the page is easy to understand and provides very interesting data. Hard to make a living playing WSOP tournaments. Here is how players with 50 or more WSOP buy-ins during 2011 and 2012 fared.

The columns are sortable - looking at the "net" from low to high makes me say ...

Wow. Phil Hellmuth might actually be as good as he thinks.

I really wished the WSOP hadn't stopped keeping these stats.

These are the totals (excluding one drop buy-ins and cashes):

how the **** have some of these players played as many tournaments as they have for as few cashes as they have - i have 5 cashes in 20-something tournaments and find it inconceivable that i could have a sub 10% cash rate over close to 100 tournaments at the wsop - then again i'm a nit, so there's that

Also having played with Sirwatts... well damn, that's one hell of a downswing

If you take away the 20 worst players from the list and added the 20 best players not on the list the ROI would rise drastically

This is a pretty old topic that has been discussed here in the past.

I've excluded the 20 largest net losers:

(unless you maybe meant best and worst in terms of skill level, then oops.)

Far from it, although I do try. That was actually an attempt to compliment Sirwatts, i've played with him and he is an excellent player. Some of the other vastly unprofitable players on that list though are far from good at poker.

I meant in terms of skill level, replacing the 20 worst with 20 of the best players who aren't on the list because they played fewer tournaments

These numbers seem ok to me and tbh aren't even all that surprising.

1. The big buyins at the WSOP are some of the toughest events of the year.

2. Players who play a ton of events are generally going to have a smaller edge because of fatigue, late regging, tilting etc.

A more telling sample would be one that shows how the GPI top 100 faired in events that had 500 or more runners.

I wish this table had a less than 50 tourney minimum or was for 4 years plus.

I personally grind the WSOP very hard ( usually only 2-3 days off) but because I mostly play the evening events and the 50k I play like 17 events per year not 25.

Interesting anyway, would love to see a more complete list.

Allen Kessler 53 $273,500 8 $223,343 -$50,157 15.1% -18%

Will his sister or Mason rewrite his bio? How much can Micon eat off Kessler's buffet tickets to bring him to Pos EV?
